Yea. If I want to go race in some rice bucket I tuned myself, I'll go play Forza. TDU has always been about driving out of your gigantic mansion in your luxo-barge and driving by all the peasants with your friends with a cuban in mouth. If they try to turn it into some Forza Horizon or The Crew clone, I'll be really disappointed.

Why do i suddenly feel like driving my Pagani Zonda Tricolore again, i put down the drug called TDU2 years ago, and yet still have cravings for it... guess thats a sign of a epic game 8-)

TDU3 better live up to it or it will be a huge disappointment.

Something I haven't seen mentioned here is a Hardcore Mode. I loved this in TDU1. Imagine driving across Oahu and Ibiza with the physics from Forza.

HC in TDU1 was like a moongravity mode. Allowing endless drifts and massive jumps.

For normal driving i would go Sim/Simcade/Arcade modes. HC/SP/FA. But with bonus for driving in a more difficult mode. So good driving gets rewarded.

One thing where the Crew fails, is that good driving is not rewarded, in fact bad driving is supported and not punished.

TDU2 physics was nerfed after an Atari executive "could not drive it". But their base physics were supposed to be more simulated.
I really do hope they will choose a clear approach in TDU3 towards driving, without removing the ability to make massive jumps or going off road. With Rallye physics experience in house, they will be more than capable of doing that.

A real drift mode with special races and event would be more fun than just a moongravity mode IMO. That is something they should consider adding to the driving modes.

Clean driving bonus like in TDU1 and an epic challenge creator for custom races and events.
And make rail riding impossible with damage, spins or slowing down so it does not bring any advantage.

Another thing that made TDU special were the prototypes and rare cars. It made the car list special and had cars most people never even heard of. As licenses are now more easy to obtain, if you have the budget, i would also like to see Brand DLC packs.

Single Brand themed car packs from legendary brands like Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes, Lamborghini or Aston Martin could really spice up the garages. Themed garage accessories, clothing items, wraps and stickers and even radio stations can be added to each themed pack.
This type of DLC would be accepted by many and open a door for the real die hard fans.
It would also make TDU stand out again from the rest.

Just think of TDFRL. These car models and sounds were epic. Scenery not so much. But having an option to drive all these classic Ferraris in the new TDU3 would be awesome.

Of course the release car list should already have like 5 cars from each brand to begin with. Picking the most iconic cars from a brand is something they did well in The Crew and TDU1/2. But releasing car packs for the fans is something TDU3 devs should consider.

It would also justify the ridiculous fees some brands are charging to game manufacturers these days.

:twocents-02cents:

PS Car sounds should be made, using real recordings. I always find the generic BS in some games a real letdown. Car sounds are part of the experience and should be recreated as good as possible.

My favorite memories are:

The palm trees
The hills
The white buildings in the cities
The cheesy story
The dealerships, properties, and shops of course
And the lovely casino! The time trial outside of it was brilliant as well!

TDU2 had a vibe like no other game. And I miss it too.

But let's reality check ourselves a little bit... These companies, more now than ever, are in business to make the most cash in the shortest amount of time. Because if they don't, they'll be crushed by some other company that will... Which you guys already know...

For instance, I'm playing Tekken 7, the newest fighting game. And while it's good, it's not great! They've added things to help casual players in battle. Yet they're praised by almost everyone for *not* completely selling out, and casualizing, and DLC'ing the game to death. Which is what the most recent Street Fighter V game has done, and has gotten away with. Many, many fans bashed Capcom hard for it. But, they have the marketing, and the big-named pro-players in their back pocket. So Street Fighter V remains the top dog, while actually being the weakest link in the genre.

Another example, GTA V had a casino, the interior of which ended-up never being used. And the reason was, because, putting all sorts of slot machines, and poker tables, and drink girls, etc., was simply too much work...

There are always exceptions. But I buy tons of games, and lately I just feel almost continually let down. I understand I'm getting older and that I probably expect too much. :character-oldtimer: But I wouldn't get my hopes up for lots of "fleshed-out houses" and "casinos" and tons other amenities, or we may just be setting ourselves up for disappointment.

This is TDU3, so they'll have to somewhat live up to TDU2. But just enough to keep us from barking too loudly. Again.

At this point I expect the worst, and hope for death. Er... I mean... the best. :2thumbsup:

I will cut them some slack. For a number of reasons;

To start with; Jarniou is involved. He was creative director at Eden Games and will now most likely be the game director.
He will basicaly be responsible for the good vibe in the game.
And they have an experienced development team behind them.

The studio that does the development has experience with rallye games. So physics will most likely be very good. Better than TDU1 and TDU 2.

Having a big publisher behind a project also has its benefits. They will get the most out of it, when the product is a success. And they do know that creating an open world driving game will take more time to develop.

I do agree that living up to the sky high expectations of the community will be tough.
They will have to raise the bar both for themselves as well for the genre.

Let's see what they come up with first.

While i did like all of those cool tuning/styling options in NFS payback they are still just an extended version of the ones in The Crew and therefore can never be unique.
So on top of these tuning/styling options I'm still looking for a really good paint and sticker shop, and by this i mean a real one that you can design your own stickers with many layer options, give me this plus clubs and a decent custom race editor and you will have a good base to work on the rest should come naturally.

I think we should give Bigben the benefit of the doubt and not start being or thinking negatively about TDU3. I'm sure they want to make an amazing game for us, it's in their benefit to do so. I look forward to seeing and playing TDU3, I personally along with a large group of my friends and family will be preordering the game and buying all dlc available. :banana-dance:
