Bigben Interactive has purchased the license for TDU!!!!!!!

We don't know who exactly will be developing the games, but I sure hope they keep the feel of the original games. Buying houses/garages, shops, showrooms, clothing stores, huge environment, tons of social features, etc. I can't wait to see how this turns out! And we will definitely be getting a true TDU3, and not a knock-off! :D

Edit: And now our website title isn't irrelevant! :loll:

Lets hope they can pull it off, as it is going to be a massive undertaking, as players want next gen graphics and with all the player avatars and houses and the cars and not to forget the environment, lets just say they'll be busy for some time, so maybe 2-3 years out in the future before we see TDU3.

But i hope they make it so more than 8 players can be in the same sessions at the same time one of the many flaws of TDU2.

But i won't hold my breath for TDU3 as it could be 2+ years before we see it, and where should the game setting be this time.

Yea, still a long way to go until a TDU3 comes out...

Still, it's good to know the Test Drive license was finally purchased. :)

Forza Horizon 3 went with Australia. Perhaps TDU3 should be in New Zealand. Image

I personally would prefer the game setting to be in the Ryukyu Islands or in Iceland.

New Zealand would be cool, but TDU3 having airports could go anywhere, also i would like a sunny island maybe an improved version of Ibiza or something else, and for sure Iceland would be great too, but no one have done anything in Canada yet or South America, there is a huge potential of locations that could work, such as the south of France around Monaco and the french riviera as TDU3 will have to have a casino, and then there is the alps so maybe Austria/Switzerland.

I think they should stick to the TDU roots and begin with an improved Oahu.

For the rest, there is a very logical extension. It does involve driving on the left side of the road, just like FH3 did in Australia. BigBen already made a bike game there. And they know a thing or two about physics with official WRC games.

Isle of Man
Bigben adds Test Drive to its IP catalogue, which also includes WRC and TT Isle of Man.
It might be a good match. But we will miss the artistic input from Eden games.
TDU always had oversaturated "happy" colors. And a few other things that made driving enjoyable.

But lets see what they come up with first. Developing a full blown open world game might take years. Unless they have been working in secret and now have the license....

I was thinkin' only about islands as a hypothetical setting for a future TDU3. If includin' continental places I'd then prefer an area includin' the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Two major cities, sunny beaches in the coast of Rio de Janeiro so we all get the same feelings we've got from Ibiza and Oahu in TDU2, and "mountain roads", Brazil doesn't actually have mountains but I've heard some roads between the two cities I've mentioned are very twisty and dangerous, which only makes them more enjoyable in a game. Plus this setting would be in South America. The only downside is not havin' snow environments.

Another one I'd like to see would be an scaled down version of France, it would solve the problem of not havin' snow and it could have Monaco included in. Not to mention we also would get the famous Circuit de La Sarthe included in, some historical Le Mans races would be cool, plus we could cruise with the LMPs afterwards. ;)

Havin' both would be cool and possible with the airports mechanic of TDU2 you mentioned but I'd prefer the developers to only go with one setting so that they can focus on it and get the best out of it.

Yea they can always make new areas as DLC like TDU2 did with the Casino expansion, but that is just guess work for now.

Indeed. If they make make DLC for a future TDU3 I hope they make a season pass, I hate buyin' these things. *Sigh*

And yea, not much point on discussin' these things so early, it's really only guess work for now.

I actually don't want them to pick too big of an area to tackle. One of the things that made TDU2 great was the fact that both islands were created in 1:1 scale, and many of the roads were accurately recreated as well. While I like The Crew's map, I don't want too many games to make environments that are just scaled down versions of bigger areas. While I don't have anything in particular in mind, I still feel like the Dubai map that was going to be made for TDU2 would be cool. There are lots of islands in the world though. I'm sure they'll find a great place. I just really want them to carry on that 1:1 recreation method.
