They can indeed just use the Test Drive name to badge one of their upcoming products. But lets hope they see the potential and go for a new TDU.

Atari wanted way too much for the franchise (1.5M USD). I guess Big Ben paid a lot less for it. But they still need to live up to the expectations. I do hope they will adopt some of the game support Ivory Tower does. And not go into EA territory and just milk it.

Well this is something I never thought I'd see.

Had to reset my password and everything for the site. I don't think they've actually mentioned Test Drive being made but I'm hopeful.

Having played the first 2 Forza Horizon games I can't help but feel like they're still missing that extra something the TDU had which is odd given the amount of activites and customization they have over TDU.

They're open world but still feel restricted. Nothing will top the main mountain road from TDU in a 360 scuderia.

I'm more hyped and excited for TDU3 than I will ever be for the The Crew 2.

I don't know what to expect with TDU3! It's a studio with no experience in open world games, and now they need to make one of the biggest open worlds in all of gaming to fill the shoes of the previous games! So I don't want to get myself too hyped before I even see a screenshot!

But i do understand why players want TDU3, instead of Crew 2, as that has clearly derived from the original TDU vibe to an allround fun game.

TDU is special and Eden Games' former Creative Director Jarniou will be leading the TDU3 project, if i'm correct. But it was indeed Fergus, now head of Ivory Tower, who was the creative genius behind the first real open world driving game. Solving all the technical issues that come with it.

The new studio has experience with driving games, so i do not worry too much about driving physics. But creating a fully functional and dynamic open world will be a big task. There are a lot of experienced developers who have worked on these kind of open world gaming environments, so they might bring some mission specialists to their team. At least that is how i would do it.

As the project obviously just has started, no good information is available.

I will enjoy Crew 2 in the upcoming 2 years or so. They can easily be played next to each other as The Crew has gone a different path.
But it has been way too long before someone picked up the TDU legacy. That's for sure.

Test Drive Unlimited 2 will always be that special one of kind game to me like no other. It captures the driving and cruising aspect so well, that you truly feel like you're one with your car on an endless open road.

I actually went back and played TDU2 the other day and noticed that the roads were really unique. In other open world games, like Forza Horizon games and The Crew, the roads are perfectly smooth, sweeping, don't really have any camber, and feel like they are designed to be perfect driving roads. For me, that actually makes the world feel stale and less interesting to drive through. Whereas, a lot of the roads in TDU2 are jagged, bumpy, curvy, and feel more like real world roads. It may be a small detail, but it really made the driving feel a lot better.

The last few times I entered TDU2, you could not join other players, despite seeing them on the map. The Crew kept dumping debris in the road, causing police chases when I just wanted to drive. I've ben playing TDU1 since. It is very stable.

It would be nice to see TDU3 on the market soon.
