It is called the Optima Sportswagon and it came to the Geneva Motor Show straight after an online unveil in mid-February, when we got the chance to look at its appealing design for the first time.

Designed with versatile 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats as standard, the wagon allows users to slide longer outdoor equipment, such as snowboards or skis, through the central seat, while still allowing the two rear passengers to sit in comfort. Other features include a safety barrier net, built into the back of the rear seats, pop-up sliding luggage rails, low, flat boot lip and Smart Power Tailgate.

Kia's latest audio-visual navigation (AVN) system is featured on the new Optima Sportswagon, which also benefits from Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility that allow the use of infotainment with apps, voice control and music streaming.

Kia offers its D-segment estate with a choice of two gasoline engines, a 163 PS (161 HP) 2.0-liter CVVL (continuously variable valve lift) and a 245 PS (242 HP) T-GDI (turbocharged gasoline direct injection), with the same displacement, joined by a 1.7-liter turbodiesel, with 141 PS (139 HP).
