Robert Moore wrote:Pagani is a young automaker that has only been around for 24 years. For most of that time, its primary production model was the Zonda. Before the Zonda was officially killed off, the brand had begun working on the Pagani Huayra, or the C9, as it was known in the Pagani design studio. The original Huayra came to be in 2011, but we weren’t graced with the Huayra BC until 2016. In between, Pagani released a number of special edition models like the Huayra White Edition, Huayra Carbon Edition, and the Huayra Project Vulcan, among others.

Now, Pagani has designed another one-off Huayra, but this time, it was built specifically for a customer of Refined Marque – an exotic car dealership that specializes in sourcing, supplying, and purchasing the world’s most exotic cars. The new Huayra is called the Huayra Pearl, and it represents a combination of everything Pagani has learned over the years. The car itself even has a few strands of DNA from the Huayra BC and the Zonda R.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a whole lot of specifics about the Huayra Pearl. But, now that you know its origins and purpose, let’s take a closer look at it. Maybe we can make out a few things that help to make it so special.

What Makes The Pagani Huayra Pearl Edition Special

As previously mentioned, details about the Huayra Pearl are rather scant at this point in time. From the available pictures, we can see that it would be hard to mistake the car for anything but a Huayra. However, there are some differences. Up front, the car has a new front spoiler that has a clear finished to expose the layout of the carbon fiber. On the sides, there is more black carbon fiber making up the lower air channel and the “side skirt” in front of the rear wheel. Around back, the corners of the rear fascia also get the clear-coat treatment, which matches the body panel that runs the width of the rear below the exhaust outlets.

Other enhancements include a split rear spoiler similar to that seen on the Zonda S and there is a carbon fiber roof scoop that looks like a shorter version of the one seen on the Zonda R. The rest of the body takes on design cues from the Huayra BC, but is finished in a blue coloration. The wheels have a twisted spoke design, with the spokes and hub of the rear wheels sitting deeper in the wheel than those in the front. Needless to say, the exterior is a mashup of several Pagani models all wrapped into one sporty, one-off package.

On the inside, the Huayra Pearl sets the bar for luxury and visual appeal. Most of the trim elements are clear-finished carbon fiber, including a majority of the door panels, the top and bottom of the flat-bottom steering wheel, the outer ring of the upper dash, most of the lower dash, and forward portion of the center console. A small area on of the upper dash, as well as the center stack, is painted blue. It looks like the floor is covered with white Alcantara carpeting.

Most of the interior, however, is covered by a fine, white leather with blue stitching. This can be found on the edges of the center stack, both door trim inserts, the rear portion of the center console, the sides of the steering wheel, the sun visors, and the seats. There are also little bits of chrome or brushed aluminum on the HVAC vents, steering wheel spokes, instrument cluster, shift knob, and handbrake handle. All told, the interior is no less than an exquisite piece of art.Naturally, we don’t have any technical specifications at this point, but you can bet it is still powered by the 6.0-liter V-12 that Pagani sourced from none less than Mercedes Mercedes -AMG. In the standard Huayra, this engine delivers 730 horsepower, and in the Huayra BC, it delivers 750 horsepower. Given the level of customization, it is entirely possible that the engine and transmission have been upgraded for the Pearl. However, until we receive more information, we can’t say that with any level of certainty.

The Pagani Huayra came to be as Pagani was ready to close the books on the Zonda. The Zonda helped form Pagani into the brand it is today, but the Huayra will help to usher in a new era for the exclusive automaker The Huayra started out as project C9 and is listed on Pagani’s website as a 2011 model. By the time 2016 came around, the brand was already releasing a more powerful iteration, the Huayra BC. The original Huayra was sold for around $1.3 million, but Pagani is keen on customizing to their customer’s specification, so pricing is never set in stone when it comes to a Pagani. The original Huayra was produced to the tune of just 20 examples per year.

Very nice. The new front spoiler takes away the weirdness of the original Huayra design.
This car is stunning. I like it. :2thumbsup:

You always say that, but this time it doesn't look like it was the supercar driver's fault or lack of talent.

Car looks like it was rear-ended badly, details about what really happened are scarce though. :|

That rear is smacked very hard against a wall or pole. Most likely because of a spin. For me it looks like the driver got out of control.
Something that tends to happen with a lot of horsepower and a lack of drivers skills. Even talented drivers can have these "moments", don't get me wrong and in a lot of cases accidents are caused by other drivers who do not pay attention.

If the car was really rear ended by another, like you think, the damage would be far more superficial, as both cars were driving at speed. In this case the impact was massive. So, unless the car was standing still and some other dived into it with 160km/h (100mph), i see no other explanation than a freak accident, caused by the driver him/her self.
A clue of that might be the missing rear left suspension and wheel. ;)
Another possible scenario might be that he (presumably it was a him behind the wheel) was racing another car and they collided and he spun and hit an object (or another car). But there is no trace of another vehicle in these pictures.

:geek:

EDIT: I did some research on the web and found this
New pictures of the accident, coming from our reader Steve Cairns, point towards a plot twist, as it seems the Huayra driver lost control of his machine, hitting a parked car. Oh, and let's not forget the cracked windshield questions

He did indeed spin and hit a parked car. So my analysis wasn't too bad :ugeek:

Edit 2: Passenger did not wear a seatbelt..

The missing wheel..

Maybe the driver was driving too fast and tried to avoid an accident with a car entering from a side street. And while doing that lost control over the car and hit the parked car.

The "good" news is that the Arab owner will most likely have it completely restored at Pagani's brand new factory.

Some collectors item for a French kid
