CARSCOOPS STAFF wrote:Porsche has a variety of new metal to showcase at the Paris Motor Show this year. Some of it we knew about, but one set of wheels will be entirely new – or at least, that is, a new version of a model already revealed.

That will be the new 911 GT3 Cup – the most-produced racing car in the world. The Cup racer forms the backbone of literally dozens of spec racing series around the world, including national Carrera Cup, regional GT3 Cup, and international Supercup series. So while the GT3 Cup (pictured here in its current form) is not the most hardcore of racing 911s (superseded as it is by the GT3 R and 911 RSR), it is a vital one for Porsche – commercially speaking, if not competitively.

The new Cup car will undoubtedly benefit from many of the upgrades applied to the latest road-going 911. Whether that will include the downsized, turbocharged engine, Porsche isn't saying as yet, but we wouldn't count on it. You can bet it get around a track faster, though.

The 911 GT3 Cup will share center stage over at the Porsche pavilion with the new Panamera 4 E-Hybrid. The plug-in gasoline-electric version of Zuffenhausen's latest four-door model pairs a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 with an electric assist and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Also on display for the first time will be the Macan Turbo with its new performance package.
