CRISTIAN GNATICOV wrote:Following an extensive teasing campaign, Italdesign have finally unveiled their latest ultra-limited series car.

Set to premiere at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, starting with March 7, the as-of-yet unnamed machine is part of the company's newly launched brand, the Italdesign Automobili Speciali.

As it was initially announced, only five units are to be produced, before the end of 2017, and all of them will feature the same aggressive carbon fiber body that sits on top of a modular chassis and is 4,847 mm (190.9 in) long, 1,970 mm (77.6 in) wide, and 1,204 mm (47.4 in) tall.

At its heart, it carries a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine, whose specs have yet to be released. Nevertheless, we're probably looking at the same mill that powers both the Lamborghini Huracan and Audi R8.

Italdesign may not be keen on telling us how much power the unit produces, but the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration time takes just 3.2 seconds, with the top speed standing in excess of 330 km/h (205 mph). These numbers are almost on par with the Huracan LP 610-4, which needs 3.2 seconds to go from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph), and will keep accelerating up to more than 325 km/h (201 mph).
UPDATE:
ADRIAN PADEANU wrote:Only five people will be given the opportunity to sign on the dotted line this year to order the Italdesign Zerouno, a new supercar featuring an aggressive body made entirely out of carbon fiber. At an additional cost, buyers will be able to order the vehicle with an optional “Corsa” package, but doing so will transform the V10-powered beast into a track-only model.

When restricted to the circuit, the Zerouno will boast an even more aerodynamic body with a race-spec rear wing equipped with a central longitudinal fin. Italdesign will also throw in a pair of lightweight side mirrors, a titanium muffler, different wheels, and carbon fiber monocoque seat frames to further remove weight.

At the heart of the Zerouno is going to be a mid-mounted naturally aspirated 5.2-liter engine producing 610 horsepower (449 kilowatts) and 560 Newton-meters (413 pound-feet). If these output figures seem familiar, it’s because the Audi R8 V10 Plus and the Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 have the exact same power.

In charge of channeling the V10 muscle to both axles is a seven-speed, dual-clutch gearbox granting the Zerouno with a sprint to 62 mph (100 kph) in 3.2 seconds en route to a top speed of 205 mph (330 kph), thus mirroring the performances of the aforementioned R8 in the Plus guise.

Italdesign got in touch with Pirelli to create a special version of the P Zero tires for the supercar’s 20-inch OZ wheels shod in 245/30 R20 front and 305/30 R20 high-performance rubbers. Behind the lightweight wheels are carbon ceramic brakes providing the necessary stopping power to match the V10’s grunt.

Even more carbon fiber is found inside the cabin where the dashboard, door panels, and the central tunnel are made completely out of this material. Like in many race cars, there’s an all-digital instrument cluster and only a few physical controls in the driver-oriented cockpit.

Those five people fortunate enough to claim one will have access to “endless customization” options. At the moment of writing, there aren’t any details about how much it costs. That being said, it will likely command a significant premium over an R8 or a Huracan. For what it’s worth, Italdesign says the Zerouno is going to be followed every 18-24 months by other ultra-exclusive models.

Italdesign once created the Cala. That project was terminated when Audi took Lambo over and launched the Gallardo. The Cala was much better looking IMO.
Now they seem to strike again with a much more aggressive design than the Huracan offers.

Underneath it is Lamborghini all the way.
I think it is a rebodied Huracan. And sometimes plastic surgery works out well.

The Sharkfins are something to get used to i suppose. ;)

Too much.

The rear is a cross between a Huracan and a Sesto Elemento, while the side profile as an Asterion and the color scheme is from the Veneno.

It does not has to hide its heritage.

Italdesign has shown their vision on a small V10 Lamborghini with this design.
At least that is how i see it.

Only difference with previous design studies, is that you can actually buy it 8-)

ADRIAN PADEANU wrote:The Audi R8 and Lamborghini Huracan too mundane? This is where the ultra-rare Zerouno comes into play.

With production capped at five cars and just two units built so far, the Italdesign Zerouno is certainly a rare sight on the streets and grabs the attention wherever it’s heading. Chassis number 002 made an appearance last weekend during the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, but not before cruising along Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive to spark the curiosity of bystanders.

Having been introduced only several months ago in Geneva by newborn supercar boutique Italdesign Automobili Speciali, we’re pretty sure some of the people taking pictures had no idea about the model’s exact identity. We can’t actually blame them for that since the Zerouno is a fresh product, though its origins can be found in existing high-performance models from the Volkswagen Group, such as the Audi R8 and the Lamborghini Huracan.

The second car built by Italdesign is different than the original Zerouno not just thanks to its striking red carbon fiber body paint, but also due to the bigger rear winger making it look more suitable for the race track. It’s still a fully street-legal machine, one that hides a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine underneath the vented rear hood.

All five coupes planned for production have already been sold, but Italdesign has already said it might chop off the Zerouno’s roof for a roadster follow-up. It’s currently talking to potential customers to figure out whether it’s worth the effort. Should it receive the stamp of approval, it will likely be more expensive than the coupe, which at roughly $1.6 million was not exactly a bargain to begin with considering an R8 V10 Plus is more than eight times cheaper as it starts off at $194,400 in the United States. But if there’s demand, why not?

As the “Zerouno” moniker suggests, it’s the first of many limited-run models to come from the Italdesign Automobili Speciali catering a crowd willing to pay a significant premium over the “mundane” Huracans and R8s.

From a commercial point of view, the 1.6M pricetag, excluding taxes, is not too smart and more greedy. Also creating just 5 of them is maybe a way to keep it exclusive, but also plain stupid.

A limited series of just 25 at around 500.000-750.000€ would have sold out just as quickly. And that is already twice the base car Huracan worth. And still exclusive.

And now they want to do the same with a roadster. It if is just for others to pay attention to their company they succeeded.

Maybe an attempt to tap in the resellers value, that exclusives usually create?
