BRAD ANDERSON wrote:As the world awaits Tesla’s planned all-electric pickup and a potential electric F-150 from Ford, an EV start-up dubbed Bollinger has just unveiled its take on an electric off-roader.

Dubbed the B1 and unveiled at the Classic Car Club of Manhattan, the vehicle has been dubbed “the world’s first all-electric, all-wheel drive, off/on road sport utility truck” and spawns memories of the Willys Jeep because of its boxy shape.

Bollinger says the B1 will be available with either a 60 kWh or 100 kWh battery pack with ranges varying between 120 and 200 miles. When combined with a punchy electric motor, the B1 delivers 360 hp and 472 lb-ft of torque, allowing it to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in an impressive 4.5 seconds before topping out at 127 mph (204 km/h).

All up, the B1 tips the scales at 3,900 lbs and has a towing capacity of 6,100 lbs and an identical payload capacity. It measures 150 inches long, 76.5 inches wide, 73.5 inches high and even has a 50/50 weight distribution. Charge time for the 60 kWh battery sits at 7 hours with a household plug or 45 minutes from a fast charger, while the 100 kWh charges in either 12 hours or 75 minutes respectively.

Bollinger wants to begin deliveries of the B1 by February 2019, but it is still in talks with third-party manufacturers, looking to settle on a company to actually build the off-roader.
