MICHAEL GAUTHIER wrote:Chevrolet has unveiled the highly-anticipated 2019 Corvette ZR1.

Billed as the fastest and most powerful Corvette ever created, the ZR1 features a supercharged 6.2-liter LT5 V8 engine that produces 755 hp (563 kW) and 715 lb-ft (968 Nm) of torque. It can be paired to either a seven-speed manual or an optional eight-speed automatic transmission. Chevrolet didn't go into specifics but confirmed the model has a top speed in excess of 210 mph (337 km/h).

In order to hit these impressive speeds, the car has been equipped with an all-new front fascia and a "downforce-enhancing front underwing." The model also features a unique carbon-fiber “halo” hood and four new radiators.

Two different aerodynamic styling packages will be available and the standard "Low Wing" variant is designed to deliver the highest top speed. It enables the ZR1 to generate up to 70 percent more downforce than the Z06’s base aero package.

The optional ZTK Performance Package goes even further as it adds a front splitter and an adjustable "High Wing" that provides an estimated 950 pounds (430 kg) of downforce. The package also includes Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 summer tires, chassis modifications, and a retuned Magnetic Ride Control system that promises to deliver even greater cornering grip.

Speaking of options, Chevrolet will offer a Sebring Orange Design Package that includes a Sebring Orange exterior with orange brake calipers and orange accents. The package also includes orange seat belts, orange contrast stitching, and bronze aluminum interior trim.

The interior can also be equipped with an assortment of other options including heated and ventilated Napa leather upholstery, a carbon fiber rimmed steering wheel, a Bose premium audio system, and a Performance Data Recorder.

The 2019 Corvette ZR1 will go on sale next spring and pricing will be announced closer to launch.

BRAD ANDERSON wrote:Barely two weeks after premiering the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, the American automaker has surprised many be unveiling the new Corvette ZR1 Convertible at the LA Auto Show.

Beneath the skin, the ZR1 Convertible is powered by the same LT5 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine as the coupe, therefore delivering an identical 755 hp and 715 lb-ft of torque. This will allow the car to accelerate from naught to 60 mph (96 km/h) in under 3 seconds and complete the quarter mile in the high 10-second range.

Chevrolet hasn’t produced a ZR1 Convertible since the original model premiered in 1970. Clearly eager to ensure the car has been worth the weight, Chevrolet has ensured that it’s only 60 lbs (27 kg) heavier than the hardtop. Thanks to the supercar’s rigid structure, the ZR1 Convertible promises handling to rival its sibling.

“The ZR1 convertible is a no-compromise supercar. Thanks to the strong structure, the suspension tuning between coupe and convertible models is identical, meaning the ZR1 convertible offers the same benchmark performance, including a top speed of over 200 mph,” said Corvette executive chief engineer Tadge Juechter.

Like the coupe, the 2019 Corvette ZR1 Convertible can be equipped with the $2,995 ZTK Performance Package, adding a large rear wing, front splitter, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and Magnetic Ride control suspension. The car produces up to 950 lbs of downforce.

Chevrolet has confirmed that the ZR1 Coupe will start at $119,995 while the ZR1 Convertible will be priced from $123,995.

The matte paint is not really my thing, but i dig the Sebring Orange option. 8-)

Spoiler is there because customers want them. But a better under-tray and diffuser would be more aesthetically pleasing. For a track oriented sports car it does fit the theme though.
No real shocking design changes as well.

Cool part about Corvettes, is that you can have the same driving fun the top pedigree brands offer, but for half the price.
