Sbarro Eight '12
Image

The SbarroEight was unveiled at the Mondial de l'Automobile in Paris 2012 and showed at Geneva in march 2013, it took only eight weeks to be conceived and built (hence the name). This is an interpretation old american hotrods, with a 368 hp Maserati V8 from a 3200GT mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine is proudly exhibited through the three openings in the bonnet. Side exhausts, the lack of headlights, bumpers and roof, loophole windscreen, enormous tyres : all contribute the bestiality of the car. The body is in fiberglass, as usual at Sbarro. The mirrors are made in fiber flax. The total weight is 1.000 kg.

Inside, it is a place to modernity with some of the latest technology available to automakers: a driver-facing tablet computer that occupies the spot normally housing the dash (a first in a car). The audio system is provided by Parrot (Asteroid Smart car radio with OS Android. Another tablet, in front of the passenger is connected to internet and severals services (Deezer, Liveradio with 15000 world radio stations...). An onboard wireless charger by induction and a wireless stereo system (SuperTooth Disco 2) round out the tech package. The Eight is a dream for all the geeks...

A such car made in only eight weeks is an exploit. Half of the students worked on the frame and engine, the other on the body (it was the same for Intencity in march 2012, but inverted : so the students worked on all the parts of a car). The Eight is one of the most impressive car made by Espera students.

Lancia Delta S4 Rally Car '85
Lancia Delta S4.jpg
The Delta S4 engine (1,759.3 cc four-cylinder) combined supercharging and turbocharging to reduce turbo lag at low engine speeds. Officially, the S4 produced 480 horsepower (350 kW), but some sources claim that Delta S4 produced about 560 horsepower (417 kW).
In 1985, Lancia engineers tested a S4 engine under extreme conditions, reaching 5 bars boost, developing around 1000 horsepower!
An engine capacity multiple of 1.4 was applied to forced induction engines by the FIA and the choice of 1,759 cc put the S4 in the under 2,500 cc class, which allowed for a minimum weight of 890 kg (1,962 lb). The combined super/turbocharger system (often referred to as twincharging) was a development of the 037 engine that produced 350 hp (261 kW) with a supercharger only.

The mid-engine Lancia Delta S4 was a Delta in name and body styling only (for marketing purposes), and shared virtually nothing in terms of construction with the production front-engine Delta. The chassis was a tubular space frame construction much like the 037. It featured long travel double wishbone suspension front and rear, with a single large coil over at the front and separate spring and twin shock absorber at the rear.

The bodywork was made of a carbon fibre composite with front and rear bodywork fully detachable for fast replacement due to accident damage, allowing ease of access during on-event servicing. The bodywork featured several aerodynamic aids including bonnet opening behind the front-mounted water radiator with Gurney flap, front splitter and winglets molded into the front bumper panel, flexible front skirt, and rear deck lid wing that featured both a full aerofoil wind section twinned with a deflection spoilerspoiler. The door construction style was brought from the 037 with a hollow shell all-Kevlar construction that had no inner door skin, no door handle or window winder. The door was opened with a small loop and the windows were fixed perspex with small sliding panels to allow some ventilation and passing of time cards and suchlike.

In competition the car won its first event, the 1985 RAC Rally in the hands of Henri Toivonen and carried Markku Alén to second in the drivers' championship the following year. For two weeks after the end of the 1986 season Alén was champion until the FIA annulled the results of the Sanremo Rally due to irregular technical scrutineering. Alén had won that event and the loss of points handed the title to Peugeot's Juha Kankkunen.

All told, in 1986 there were 3 wins for the Delta S4 (San Remo not included). The Monte Carlo Rally by Toivonen, Rally Argentina by Massimo Biasion and the Olympus Rally by Alén. The car also won the 1986 European Rally Championship with Italian driver Fabrizio Tabaton, whose car was run by Italian team HF GRIFONE in ESSO livery.

The car's legacy was tainted by the fatal crashes of Toivonen and co-driver Sergio Cresto on the 1986 Tour de Corse, where the Finnish driver inexplicably missed a tight left-hand hairpin bend and plunged into a ravine, incinerating the car and the two drivers.

Lancia Stratos HF Stradale '73
1976-lancia-stratos--1_600x0w.jpg
The Stratos HF (or simply the Stratos, HF stands for High Fidelity) is a car made by italian car manufacturer Lancia between 1972 and 1974. Designed by Bertone, it used the same engine that were found in the Ferrari Dino 246 GT - a 2.4L V6 producing 195 hp (190 in the Lancia). Because the car weight less than a tonne, the top speed might not be high (232 km/h) but it took less than 5 seconds to go from standstill to a 100 km/h.
The car became a very successful rally car - in fact, it was the first car especially designed for rallying. At first, it was extensively tested on Group 5 and 4 races before being homologated for the 1974 World Rally Championship season, where it won. It did also win in the WRC season in 1975 and 1976. It did then use a modified version of the original Dino engine, which in the 12 valve version had 275 PS (271 hp), then increased to 320 PS (316 hp) in the 24 valve version.

Alfa Romeo 2000 Sportiva Coupe '54
Alfa Romeo 2000 Sportiva Coupe.jpg
The 1954 Alfa Romeo 2000 Sportiva was dreamed up by Alfa's engineers to recreate their 1930s cars. Their goal was to make a 'supercar' with a 2-liter engine that could be driven on the road, or raced on the track. The car used the same space frame chassis of the Disco Volante. The engine was out of a 2-Liter version of the 1900 engine. Bertone was assigned to design the body. Franco Scaglione was commissioned by Bertone to design a lightweight body for the extremely short wheelbase. He designed both a spyder and coupe body. Only 4 cars were ever built (2 coupes, 2 spyders). In a later road test, the car proved very good on the track only to be beaten by the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR and the Ferrari 340. Later, Franco Scaglione said that of all the cars that he designed, this was his favorite.

Power: 136 hp
Top Speed: 220 km/h

Cosworth GT86/BR-Z Stage 3 '14
Image

Cosworth has a big name in the automobile industry , often linked to car manufacturer Ford . But the British Company will also tune cars from other manufacturers, like the Subaru BRZ and his twin brother Toyota GT86. And it's not just outward appearance only.

Stage 1
Three tuning packages are available, starting of course with Stage 1 . This represents a modified engine management, a high-performance racing air filter and a stainless steel exhaust system, which reduced the capacity from 200 to 223 HP. Which is stable not big enough, Cosworth puts the extra mile - or two - in order to make the Japaneses 232 HP strong.

More horsepower
After Stage 1 logically follow Stage 2 and 3 , which again implies more horsepower added.
Stage 2 is equivalent to 329 horses , Stage 3 allows the BRZ or GT86 to get 385 horsepower.
