Dodge Hemi Charger Concept '64
Dodge Hemi Charger Concept '64.jpg
Dodge Hemi Charger is based on a bone-stock Dodge Polara. But many of this car’s components were removed and new ones were added. There is a smoothly blended rolled pan instead of the chrome bar, a hand-built, blacked-out grille opening and surrounds for the remaining outer lights. A distinctive feature are the D-O-D-G-E letters across the hood and the ornamental fender badges. For the rear the chrome bumper was removed and replaced by a rolled pan and rubber-padded nerf bars.

The interior gets a pair of special, dark charcoal, leather-covered bucket seats, a tri-spoke steering wheel with a walnut rim, and an integral roll-bar/headrest.

It’s not that difficult to imagine that finding a proper engine for this masterpiece was pretty difficult at that time. The company wanted to use a 426 Hemi engine, but that particular engine was only built in limited numbers and only for select racing teams. The solution was to use a 305-HP, 383-cubic inch V-8 mated to an automatic transmission. For a long period after its official launch, the Charger claimed to use a 426 "Wedge" V-8 with 365 hp, but that engine was never installed.

Etox Zafer '08
Etox Zafer '08.png
Turkish camaker Etox has developed a new model called the Zafer I that it hopes will enter production next year. Still in the prototyping phase, the creators of the Etox Zafer hope to eventually build up to 500 units a year but plan a more modest run of just 20 cars/year initially. Looking similar to cars built by the UK's TVR, the Zafer was designed over a period of six months and this latest prototype involved the work of over 46 engineers.

The story behind the Zafer is not too dissimilar a tale from Ferruccio Lamborghini starting his own sports car label after being insulted by Enzo Ferrari. In the case of the Etox, its founder Ercan Malkoç set about building his own car company after being denied the chance to examine a Lamborghini up close.

When, and if, it finally enters production, the Zafer will be available with a trio of engine options starting with a 125-hp 1.5L diesel engine, followed by 220-hp diesel 3.0L V6 and a 272-hp petrol 3.0L for a flagship model.

Hyundai Tiburon '07
Hyundai Tiburon '07.jpg
Styled in South Korea, the Tiburon coupe blends straight and curved lines in what Hyundai calls an effort to "emphasize vitality and strength." The body features a high belt line and a short greenhouse, with a steeply raked windshield and back window. Tiburons are equipped with all-disc brakes, which feature larger, cross-drilled rotors on the SE model. A fully independent suspension with front and rear stabilizer bars is standard on all Tiburons.

Built on a 99.6-inch wheelbase, the Tiburon is 173 inches long overall. A deck-lid spoiler is mounted on the GT coupe, which has 17-inch alloy wheels. The SE model gets a high deck spoiler. The GS has standard 16-inch wheels, but 17-inch wheels are available.

Rated at an estimated 172 horsepower at 6,000 rpm, the 2.7-liter V-6 teams with either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission in GT models or a six-speed manual in the SE.

0-100 km/h time = 9,3 seconds
Top Speed = 225 km/h

Noble M12 GTO 3R '00
Image

In 2000, the Noble M12 GTO threatened to turn the established supercar market on its head. With its mix of scorching performance, race-bred dynamics and immaculate build quality, the Noble could be bought for a fraction of the cost of most of its rivals, but gave away nothing to them on the road and track. The press raved about it and demand rapidly grew as buyers saw this British-designed car as a credible alternative to cars costing more than twice the price.

There are currently two models in the range: the M12 GTO-3 and the M12 GTO-3R. Both cars use the same engines and underpinnings, but there are significant differences in styling, refinement and transmissions. The M12 GTO-3 is the entry model in the range, with a list price of 47,950. As with the GTO-3R, it has a GRP composite body over a spaceframe chassis offering impressive levels of structural and torsional rigidity. Inside, the cabin is spacious enough to accommodate people over six-foot tall and has excellent ergonomics, adjustable seats and steering column, a fully trimmed safety roll cage and Alcantara trim as standard.

The 2968cc, twin-turbocharged V6 used in both Noble models is transversely mounted in front of the rear axle, directly behind the cabin. It features four valves per cylinder and double overhead cams to each bank of cylinders. The all-alloy engine is heavily modified from standard, with many bespoke components fitted during build. It produces 352 hp at 6200rpm, and is redlined at 7200rpm.

On the road, 350 ft-lb of torque produced between 3500 and 5000rpm makes the car immensely flexible and easy to drive. Even at 3000rpm, the engine is producing 80 per cent of its available torque. There is also very little lag from the twin Garret T25, water-cooled turbochargers, meaning a particularly linear response throughout the rev-range. The turbochargers run a maximum 0.7 bar of boost and are equipped with an air to air intercooler, centrally mounted at the rear of the car.

0-100 Km/h time = 3,7 Seconds
Top Speed = 275 Km/h

Lotus Europa S '06
Lotus Europa S.jpg
Europa S is a GT type two seater automobile designed to complement the very successful Lotus Elise sports car and its derivative, the Exige. The name is borrowed from the legendary Lotus Europa of the 1960s and 1970s.

The Lotus Europa s follows the core Lotus philosophy of performance through light weight enabling this refined and very high performing GT car to weigh just 995 kg. This low weight has been obtained through the clever use of advanced and high tech materials including an extruded and bonded aluminium chassis, composite body panels and a very advanced composite energy absorbing front crash structure.

The Europa S is not a derivative of the Elise or the Exige and has been allocated a separate Lotus type number of Type 121 - the Elise and Exige are both Type 111. The new mid-engined coupe delivers high levels of performance from a high torque (194 ft-lb at 4200 rpm) 2.0-litre turbo engine producing 200 hp at 5400rpm.

Audi R8 Razor Spyder GTR By PPI Speed Design '13
Image

Marked out by freer breathing for the induction and exhaust, the most notable element of the Razor Spyder is the open-air door cutouts that make every day a breezy California summer. Cut from aluminum and reinforced with carbon fiber, the door cutouts promise a spectacular view of the road and create a cockpit that feels open and free like a track day special.

The design limits air from under the body escaping during max attack runs - where the Spyder GTR is certified to hit 335 km/h. The revamp for the Spyder involves much more action around the back deck, where the PPI Speed Design model is barely recognizable as an R8 from some rear angles. The giant air scoops vaguely recall the Porsche 911 Speedster’s tonneau cover bulges, but in this case they act more like high-mounted air scoops.

Pulling clean air from the roof is the best location for ram-air intake effects at super-high speeds. There is no mention of an integrated roll-bar in these giant hoop scoops, and these giant snorkels seem like they might be able to suck the sunglasses right off your face.

It’s worth it for the open cone intakes and overrun pops from the 5.2-liter V-10 engine — or the V-8. Top speed and performance are both up significantly with this upgrade for the V-10, with performance gains from the V-8 generally even more impressive.

Mechanical Details:
Engine: 5.2-liter V-10
Power: 621 horsepower @ 7,400 rpm
Torque: 417 pound-feet @ 6,400 rpm
0-100 km/h: 3,1 Seconds
Top Speed: 335 km/h

Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible '71
Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible.jpg
The early 1970s was a grand time for American muscle cars with plenty of iconic iron rolling off the Big Three’s assembly lines. But few cars have reached the level of rarity as the Plymouth Hemi ‘Cuda. Production numbers of these legendary street machines were rather low compared to other muscle cars of the era. In the case of this particular ‘Cuda and its combination of options, the number is one.

Yes, out of the total 16,159 Barracudas sold in 1971, only 11 were fitted with the sportiest ‘Cuda option powered by the 426 Hemi and ordered as convertibles. Of those 11 cars, only three came with the four-speed manual transmission. Over 40 years later, one — yes o-n-e — B5-coded “Bright Blue” ‘Cuda is the only numbers-matching, 426 Hemi-powered, four-speed, convertible in existence. Talk about rare.

If you think this Hemi ‘Cuda looks a little plain, you’d be right. Most ‘Cudas were ordered with the factory rear decklid wing, black rear quarter panel stripes, and silver Rally wheels. There was still plenty to look at on the stripped-down `Cuda Convertible. Its “shaker” hood was complete with chrome tie-down pins, the front quarter panel showed off its chrome side vents, the grille features those unique-for-’71 louvers and quad headlights, and the lower rear fascia features cut-outs for the dual, chrome-tipped exhausts pipes. The car’s power-folding, black canvas top matches nicely with the black tires, black rear fascia, and shadow-covered black louvers hidden within the front grille. The dog-dish hubcaps and raised white letter tires further set the look to this 1970s street machine.

Several engine options were available under the Barracuda’s hood, including two Slant-sixes, four V-8s, and of course, the top-dog 426-cubic inch, V-8.

The big block 426 pumped out 425 horsepower to the rear wheels with the help of twin Carter AFB four-barrel carburetors. Out back, a Dana 60 rear end housed 9.75-inch gears set to a 4.10 ratio put the power to the pavement through skinny tires mounted on 15 x 7 steel wheels. To keep things cool, a 26-inch radiator sat behind the grille and the optional power brakes pulled everything to a stop. Not all Barracudas got such hardcore hardware, as the slant sixes and smaller V-8s were more at home just cruising around town.

But with the 426 Hemi factory package selected, the car also received upgraded suspension components and a reinforced chassis. All told, the car would hit 60 mph in roughly six seconds on its way to a quarter-mile run lasting 13 seconds – blazingly quick numbers for those days.
