Jaguar F-Type R Coupe AWD '15
Jaguar F-Type R Coupe AWD '15.jpg
The Jaguar F-Type is a two-seat sports car, based on a shortened platform of the XK convertible, manufactured by Indian owned British manufacturer Jaguar Cars from 2013. It is the spiritual successor to the famous E-Type. It is also the replacement for the Jaguar XK. The car was launched initially as a soft-top convertible, later with a coupé version launched in 2013.

When compared to the rest of the F-Type Coupe lineup, the F-Type R features more aggressive aerodynamic bodywork that includes gloss-black front vanes beneath the shark gills and matte side-sill extensions. The window finishes and the frames of the side glass are made in bright anodized aluminum, while the grille surround and side air vents are coated in bright chrome. The interior of the F-Type R Coupe is also further differentiated by the rest of the lineup by a sportier look and feel.

The F-Type R Coupe is powered by a 5-liter, supercharged V-8 engine that delivers a total of 550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque. Giving this engine its throaty note is an Active Sports Exhaust system with quad, outboard-mounted tailpipes. This V-8 engine includes technological advancements, like the spray-guided direct injection (SGDI) and dual independent variable cam timing (DIVCT), and it features high-pressure die-cast, lightweight aluminum block stiffened with cast-iron liners and cross-bolted main-bearing caps.

Jaguar D-Type Michelotti Coupe '63
Jaguar D-Type Michelotti Coupe '63.jpg
The Jaguar D-Type is a sports racing car that was produced by Jaguar Cars Ltd. between 1954 and 1957. It was powered by a basic Straight-6 XK engine design (initially 3.4 litres and uprated to 3.8 litres in the late fifties). D-Types won the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1955, 1956 and 1957. After Jaguar temporarily retired from racing as a factory team, the company offered the remaining unfinished D-Types as XKSS versions whose extra road-going equipment made them eligible for production sports car races in America.

A short-nose D-type that was raced severely at Le Mans and even came home third overall in 1957. Quite literally as the car was registered in France, entered by a French team and painted in national racing blue, Un léopard Français. But tragedy struck when the short-nose was entered again the year ahead in the epic 24 hours. Driver Jean-Marie Brussin crashed the car (according to Roland Urban he had christened it ‘Marie’) fatally. Brussin died behind the wheel and much of the car’s bodywork was scrapped at Le Mans. But the monocoque underpinnings, suspension, gearbox and engine, all to works-specifications, somehow survived. They ended up with Carrozzeria Michelotti in Turin in 1960.

By the time the car reappeared it was 1963 and the event was nothing less then the Geneva motor show of that year. The resurrected D-type starred again, now at Michelotti’s stand. This time it came with a totally different two-seater coupe body and the new monocoque was made of part steel, part aluminium. This body was built around the D-type and still shares all the D-types dimensions and wheel track etc. In turn, the engine, transmission and subframes front and rear all still marry up.

The last time the car was seen was at the 2014 Chantilly Arts & Elegance hosted in the gardens of the 16th century Chateau de Chantilly just north of Paris.

Jaguar E-Type Lightweight Low Drag Coupe '63
Jaguar E-Type Lightweight Low Drag Coupe '63.jpg
Conceived as as a road car, the Jaguar E-Type was nevertheless a regular sight at racing tracks shortly after its launch at the 1961 Geneva Motorshow.

Shortly after the introduction of the E-Type, Jaguar management wanted to investigate the possibility of building a car more in the spirit of the D-Type racer from which elements of the E-Type's styling and design were derived. One car was built to test the concept designed as a coupé. To retain the E-Type's homologation as a GT car, the body could be modified but not the chassis, so the steel monocoque was retained. A brand new body was constructed that looked virtually identical to the production road car but was fabricated completely from aluminium. To improve the aerodynamics a separate 'hard-top' roof was added, which sported a small vent at the rear. Some of the later cars were bodied with full fast-back Coupe bodies that proved to be even more efficient.

Under the lightweight shell the new competition E-Type also featured changes. The biggest was an aluminium cylinder block instead of the cast-iron lump fitted in the road cars. Together with the revised body, this helped cut the weight by over 200 kg. The revised 3.8 litre engine was also fitted with Lucas fuel injection, which helped lift the power to well over 300 hp. All of this was transferred to the rear wheels through a five-speed, close-ratio gearbox.

Jaguar XJR-9 LM '88
Jaguar XJR-9 LM '88.jpg
In the golden era of racing, Jaguar was a force to be sure, especially at the 24 Hours of Le Mans where the classic marquee won five times from 1951 to 1957. Not long after, the company disappeared from the Sarthe Circuit, not returning again until 1986 when the company unleashed its XJR-6, developed by TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing) in the Group C category.

The machine was designed by famed Formula 1 designer Tony Southgate and powered by a naturally-aspirated V-12. Group C at the time allowed any engine format as long as it met fuel-efficiency requirements. While most teams opted to use smaller-displacement engines with turbocharged power, Jaguar decided to stick with its naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V-12. Subsequently, the engine grew to 7.0 liters, which resulted in around 690 HP, and placed into a new car called the XJR-9.

The XJR-9 faced off with powerhouses such as Nissan, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche at the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans. The XJR-9 charged forward from the start, with Jan Lammers, Johnny Dumfries, and Andy Wallace sharing the driving duties. At the end, it was the XJR-9 that took the checkered flag. It was a historic moment for Jaguar, who returned to glory at the famed French circuit after a long absence. It also marked the first time a normally-aspirated powerplant outduelled a field made up of turbocharged engines.

The good old days when Tom Walkinshaw was still brilliant. Driver Jan Lammers is a legend. I have seen this car a few times up close. It is a beast of a machine. And they sounded great as well. Who needs electric engines anyway.

Nice one :2thumbsup:

Jaguar SS 100 3½ litre Saoutchik Roadster '38
Jaguar SS 100 3½ litre Saoutchik Roadster '38.jpg
Although the main focus of SS / Jaguar in the 1930s was on their saloons, it is the sports-car range that is best remembered today. The range evolved from the ss 90 of 1935, to the ss 100 2.5-litre of 1936 and finally to the ss 100 3.5-litre of 1938. The exterior remained virtually unchanged, but many changes were carried through under the simple, but effective body.

The ss 90 was directly derived from the ss I; it was created by cutting 15 inches out of the saloon's chassis. Power came from a side valve straight six engine, which delivered a mediocre 70 hp. More power was needed and after a production run of only 23 cars, the SS 90 was replaced by the SS 100. Main difference between the two was the Harry Weslake designed overhead valve head, which yielded an extra 30 hp.

The relatively low weight, 102 hp and the competitive price made the SS 100 an immediate hit. Production of the SS 100 was not a priority with the company still focussing on the very successful saloon cars. When production was cut short by the Second World War in 1940 only 190 of the SS 100 2.5-litres and even less (118) of the 3.5-litre variant were constructed.

Most of the SS 100s were fitted with the standard, factory designed and built bodywork, but it comes as no surprise that in the heyday of coach-building some SS 100s received a custom coachwork. One of the finest examples of custom bodied SS 100s is the Saoutchik Roadster. The elegant roadster was designed by the Russian born Jacques Saoutchik and most prominent changes compared to the regular SS 100 are the swooping front and rear fenders.

Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake '15
Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake '15.jpg
The Jaguar XF (codename: X250) is an executive/mid-size luxury car and estate produced by British car manufacturer Jaguar Cars. It was first unveiled in autumn 2007 as a replacement for the Jaguar S-Type.

The Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake was revealed at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. The exterior of the XFR-S Sportbrake follows in the path of the sedan. The same aggressive nose with the massive intakes, R-S badges and red colors grille logo set this apart from more plebeian Jaguar wagons. 20-inch alloys, a rear bumper with integrated diffuser and quad exhaust tips.

The XFR-S Sportbrake puts the power in powertrain with its force-fed engine. The 5.0-liter V8 is supercharged and massaged to produce 543 horsepower with 502 pounds of twist on tap. The engine has quad cams and is made almost entirely out of aluminum.

Helping to shuffle all that power to the rear wheels is Jaguar’s eight-speed automatic. The Sportbrake actually uses the newly developed Quickshift model that was created for the F-Type.

Ginetta G4 '64
Ginetta G4 '64.jpg
In 1957, the Walklett brothers of England stuck a tubular frame of their own design to a Ford engine and transmission, and then marketed their creation as a complete car and in kit form. This was the beginning of the Ginetta, and the car represented here was called the G2. The G2 was an immediate hit, and the company soon developed many enthusiastic fans as a first-rate specialty sports-car maker.

The basic principle behind the G4, released in 1961, was simple: attach an FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) body to a tubular frame and install an engine up front. The engine was Ford's 1.0-liter OHV, with a 1.3-liter offered as an option. The suspension system consisted of double-wishbones in front and a rigid axle with trailing arms at rear.

The car's extremely light curb weight, around 400 kg, gave it go-kart like reflexes, making it one of the most thrilling things to drive on four wheels...despite the engine's low output. The G4 received high praise from amateur racers and became a grand success. Ginetta ended up selling more than 500 G4s in 1969, a rarity for a limited-production sports car. Eventually, the Walklett brothers released their interest in the company and the G4 disappeared. But in the late 1980s, production of a new G4 began again. The revived G4 embraced the values of the original car and struck a chord with enthusiasts all over again.
