Dauer 962 Le Mans '93
Dauer 962 Le Mans.jpg
In the late nineties, bringing prototype racecars to urban roadways was an idea that several companies shared. Considering the contrast between sports car and race car engineering, embarking on such a project was a laborious task. Coupled with the limited production and tiny customer base, development costs were hard to recoup. Despite these hardships, several German companies still decided to create their own road-going Porsche 962, the most successful prototype race car of our time.

From 1983 forward, the Porsche 956 and its 962 IMSA spec version dominated for a decade. Porsche manufactured nearly 150 956/962s and sold many of the cars to private teams. During this period, Porsche manufactured and made available every component on the car. Due to this customer support, Porsche not only became the most successful marque at Le Mans, but also provided essential parts for companies, such as DP Motorsport, Schuppan, Koenig and Dauer, to make road-going specials.

Of the companies that have produced a 962 road car, the most successful has been Dauer. After displaying their first 962 at the 1993 Frankfurt Show, Dauer partnered with Porsche to manufacture a contender for the 1994 24 Hours of LeMans. At that time the prototype rules stipulated that a single road-going version of the car had to manufactured for homologation. As a result of these regulations, several homologation specials were born from the world's fastest racecars. These included the Porsche GT1, Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR and the Dauer 962 LM.

At the 24 hour race, Dauer showed up with both a road version and race version of the Porsches 962, a design which had already won Le Mans six times. After winning the race, the FIA declared it would be creating rules to make sure the 962 wouldn't be back in 1995. However, with a Le Mans win under their belt, and with support from Porsche, Dauer continued to build their road-going 962.

Dauer Racing produced the 962 Le Mans from Porsche 962 chassis stripped down for modification. Components of the bodywork were replaced with slightly revised carbon fibre and kevlar panels. The under tray was replaced with a flat version for better stability at high speeds. A second seat and leather upholstery were installed in the cramped cockpit, as well as a video screen for DVD playback in later years. A small compartment was added to the front of the car to carry luggage. A hydraulic suspension system was also added to meet German ride height requirements for street cars.

The 962 Le Mans uses nearly the same engine as the racing 962: Porsche's water-cooled Type-935 2994 cc Flat-6 with two Kühnle, Kopp und Kausch AG turbochargers. Since the road car did not have to meet racing regulations, the air restrictor was removed allowing for an output of approximately 730 hp. The 5-speed racing gearbox was also retained.

At 1080kg, the 962LM may weigh around 180kg more than the 962 racecar, but its power-to weight ratio is still better than the McLaren F1's. In a drag start, 0 - 100 km/h takes around 2.6 seconds in first gear. A top speed test was conducted on the Ehra-Leissen VW test track, where 404.6 km/h was achieved.

Not even you know what cars I like, even after 5 years together.

No, the Supra is not the only one, the original NSX is also something I like very much.

Holden HSV GTS '14
Holden HSV GTS '14.jpg
Holden's performance vehicle partner, Holden Special Vehicles (HSV), produces modified versions of the VF Commodore, an automobile manufactured since 1978 by the Holden subsidiary of General Motors (GM) in Australia, and, formerly, in New Zealand.

The GTS features the 6.2 L LSA supercharged V8, with power and torque figures of 580 hp and 740 N·m (550 lb·ft). At the time of its release, the GTS was the most powerful car ever produced in Australia, the GTS is available with both a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission. The GTS has larger brakes and a larger rear spoiler than the ClubSport, an entry-level sedan in the HSV range.

The GTS from 2014 is part of the Gen-F series announced by HSV after the Holden VF Commodore was unveiled in early 2013.

Sbarro GT1 '99
Sbarro GT1 '99.jpg
Franco Sbarro, who is truly an expert car constructor, put the GT1 amongst his most spectacular creations. The car was unveiled in June 1999 as a tribute to the Mercedes victory at Le Mans.

Naturally this car uses Mercedes components wherever possible: although Mercedes had no part in the car construction except for the engine. Franco and his students at Grandson chose the 7.4 litre V8 Merc’s power plant which develops 450 HP at 5800 rpm and 451,4 ft-lb peak torque at 3800 rpm. A whole lot of power to move 1350 kg.

The most interesting technical aspect of the GT1 is the use of Sbarro’s dual-frame, patented in 1991. This system consists of three joined longitudinal members, in this dual frame concept, the engine is considered a stressed member of the frame. A simple but brilliant idea, the polyester monocoque body is attached to the frame by three essentially rubber and metal blocks. These dampen vibrations from the chassis making a much quieter and more comfortable ride without affecting the handling of the car.

Wheels are Anteras: 18 inch upfront and 19 inch on the rear. Shod with Michelin 245/35 and 365/35 respectively. Huge 4-pot callipers grab the vented discs to provide the necessary stopping power. Franco designed the unique exhaust system himself.

The radiator grille drives air upward to create downforce on the bonnet and air downward to cool the brakes. There is a small NACA duct at the base of the windscreen. The tail, topped by a large competition spoiler, has integral Mercedes S-Class rear lights (I think!). The external design, very Sbarro, leaves one in no doubt that every inch of this car is inspired by competition.

The cockpit although minimalist is warm and welcoming, but only for two. The upward swinging doors, reminiscent of Bertone, are a real crowd puller. The seats, in two-tone alcantra, are an integral part of the monocoque and therefore fixed: so the aluminium pedals are electrically adjustable. The LED instrument pack, taken partly from Mercedes was specially made for the GT1.

This list is awesome. But I think that you're focusing too much on posting obscure cars. Some of them even have incomplete specs.
