Total Race S7 Competition '13
Total Race S7 Competition '13.jpg
The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport has 1200 hp, and you might think that's a lot. But you'd be wrong. It isn't.

What we have here is a very loud, very orange Saleen S7. It's been modified by a Russian firm called Total Race to produce 2200 hp at the wheels.

Details are scarce, and its modifications indeterminate, but Total Race's Facebook page claims the Saleen has a 10.2-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 and all-wheel drive.

Standard twin-turbocharged S7s were rear-wheel drive only, and made do with a measly 750 hp from their 7.0-litre V8s. Even so, they could do 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds and reach a claimed top speed of 400 km/h.

With three times the power, and likely a little less weight, Total Race's S7 is probably fast enough to punch a hole through time.

Lamborghini Jarama GTS '73
Lamborghini Jarama GTS '73.jpg
In 1970 Nuccio Bertone proposed the evolution of the Islero with the Jarama. Conceived for the “gentleman” driver, this car is an ideal mix of elegance and power. It was one of Ferruccio Lamborghini’s favorites who appreciated the excellent combination between the 365 HP and luxurious comfort, without the focussed attention that a Miura or an Espada stirred up. Besides 15 HP, the interior of the Jarama S version, presented in 1972, was completely restyled. Lamborghini made 328 units of the Jarama (Jarama 176 units and Jarama S 152 units).

The Lamborghini Jarama made its official debut at the 1970 Geneva Salon. It was named after Jarama bullfighting region in Spain, but many believe it is named after the Jarama racing circuit near Madrid. The Jarama is the last front engined Lamborghini Coupe, but is also the third heaviest Lamborghini (1579 kg).

Jarama also known as the GT was built between 1970 and 1973. It was powered by a 4-liter V12 engine placed in the front center producing 350 hp. On the interior it featured leather upholstery and brushed aluminum for more elegance.

The second version, Jarama S (or the GTS) was launched in 1973 and produced until 1976. The differences between it and the GT were mostly mechanical: the V12 engine now delivers 365 hp. For the GTS Lamborghini Lamborghini is also offering power assisted steering, an optional Chrysler TorqueFlite automatic transmission, and removable roof panels. The extra power was added thanks to a new exhaust system, revised heads, carburetors and camshafts.

On the exterior Jarama S added revised taillights designed by DeTomaso Deauville, air intakes on each front wheel were air-extraction openings, while on the interior it added new seats.

Even if the Jarama was considered a heavy car it could sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 7 seconds and could hit a top speed of 261 km/h.

Ferruccio Lamborghini was of course one of the owners, and his personal Jarama is on display at the official Lamborghini museum.

TVR Cerbera Speed 12 W112 BHG '03
TVR Cerbera Speed 12 '03.jpg
The TVR Cerbera Speed 12, originally known as the Project 7/12, was a high performance concept car designed by TVR in 1997. Based in part on then-current TVR hardware, the vehicle was intended to be both the world's highest performance road car and the basis for a GT1 class endurance racer. However, problems during its development, changing GT1 class regulations and the eventual decision that it was simply incapable of being used as a road car ended the idea, forcing TVR executives to abandon its development.

The vehicle's engine, displacing 7.7 litres and having twelve cylinders, was reportedly capable of producing nearly 1000 horsepower, although an exact measurement was never made. Nonetheless, its performance was said to be astonishing, and it may have been capable of hitting sixty miles per hour in the low-three second range and have a top speed greater than that of the McLaren F1.

Peter Wheeler, no newcomer to high performance cars and an experienced racer in the TVR Tuscan Challenge, drove one of the finished prototypes home and concluded that the car was unusable on the road, in his opinion simply too powerful. The deposits were returned when the production plans were cancelled. The remaining prototypes were carted around to various car shows and one by one they were dismantled and used as spares for the Speed 12 race cars still competing in the British GT championship. The life of the Speed 12 was however, not yet over. In August 2003 TVR placed an advert in Auto Trader for a TVR Cerbera Speed 12 registered W112 BHG. What TVR planned to do was to rebuild one of the prototypes and sell it on to an enthusiast. Buying the car was not a simple process however, and involved being personally met and vetted by Peter Wheeler himself to make sure the buyer was a suitable candidate for purchasing the car. Eventually, the deal was completed and the Speed 12 was rebuilt and handed over to its new owner. Since the original bodywork had been destroyed, TVR had to use a remaining shell from one of the GT racers, which proved a positive point as with the increased downforce the car would be even faster round a track than before. On top of that TVR did some more work on the engine and the ECU.

Pontiac Solstice SD-290 '07
Pontiac Solstice SD-290 '07.jpg
The Pontiac Solstice SD-290 Racer Concept was presented at the 2007 SEMA Show.

Designed to evoke the emotions of classic sports cars, the Pontiac Solstice SD-290 race concept captures the purposeful design of vintage racecars. The design is dramatic, featuring a passenger cockpit tonneau cover and a driver windscreen, creating a pure racecar that looks ready to take the checkered flag even while sitting on the starting grid.

Aerodynamics have been improved and the SD-290’s weight reduced with the removal of the windshield, side glass, window regulator, convertible top, climate system and windshield wiper system. Complementing the design are new side fender gill panels, a new hood with heat extracting grilles and a competition red paint scheme. Backing up the race-ready appearance is the available Club Sport Z0K suspension package and an all-business cockpit filled with auxiliary gauges, a roll bar and racing seat. 290 hp (generated by the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine) reaches the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission.

That looks cooler than the original Cerbera Speed 12. :)

I've never been a fan of the Pontiac Solstice but damn, that SEMA concept looks good, like one of those barchettas cars.

Aston Martin DB5 Vantage '64
Aston Martin DB5 Vantage '64.jpg
In September of 1964 the DB5 Vantage prototype, DP217, was revealed with triple Weber twin-choke, sidedraft carburetors and a 5-speed transmission. Aston Martin quoted peak power at 325 hp at 5,750 rpm which was 40 more than the standard-specification DB5.

Other minor upgrades specific to Vantage included new intake manifolds, larger intake ports in the cylinder head and different ignition timing. A cuum reservoir was also added to the brake booster.

Only 65 of the DB5 coupes were fitted with the 325 hp Vantage package of 898 total coupes. Seven very rare Vantage Convertibles were also produced.
