Barnard BTR7 '12
Let's face it, Bloemfontein is famous for roses, not supercars - but that may be about to change, because a locally-grown sports prototype has just successfully completed its shake-down run at nearby Phakisa Raceway.
The BTR7 (Barnard Track Racing; the 7 stands for 702 horsepower) looks like a Le Mans endurance racer - and that's intentional.
The man behind the car, Chris Barnard, has a deeply rooted passion for endurance racing and had always envisaged building a Le Mans style race car. As such, the Barnard doesn’t have power steering, it doesn’t have vacuum-assisted or anti-lock brakes, it doesn’t have traction control, and it doesn’t have electric windows.
What it does have is a monocoque chassis made from high-tech steels and a body constructed almost entirely out of composite materials. Aiding performance is a number of aerodynamic enhancements including a flat undertray, rear diffuser, and dramatic cutouts in the front wheelarches.
Designer and company founder Chris Barnard explained: “We've deliberately steered clear of complex electronics such as traction control; you won't find any driver aids here - even that 524kW V8 can run on normal 95 octane pump fuel.” AUTHENTIC SPORTS-RACING CAR
“The idea is to offer enthusiasts an authentic sports-racing car that's easy to use, requires little maintenance and minimal set-up time.” In fact, now that the prototype is a runner, Barnard has enlisted four-times SA champion (and sometime Nascar driver) Grant van Schalkwyk for on-track development work.

Edo Competition MC12 XX '07
When initially drafting up Maserati's premier supercar, Ferrari made sure the MC12 fell below the coveted Enzo in terms of power and performance, however, one unique example has now smashed this barrier.
Edo Karabegovic is responsible for tuning some of the fastest cars ever made. Financed from the deep pockets of an enthusiastic owner, he now has his name splashed across a heavily modified a MC12; a car which many purists consider too sacred to personalize.
Edo is no newcomer to high-end tuning, his 911 conversion blew the socks off the Carrera GT's lap record around the famed Nürburgring. When considering the MC12 he said: "only the doors and the windows were right; everything else was absolute shit". Edo was referring to the restricted power and limited aerodynamic abilities of the original car below 150 mph. These faults were a result of racing regulations that forced the homologated MC12 be outfitted like its race equivalent. Edo's mission was to fix these problems and create an MC12 in his own way.
The MC 12XX by Edo Competition features a 6.3-liter V12 engine with 800 hp.
Modifications:
• power increase 170 hp – contains new steel cylinder and piston, bored to 6.3 liters (same as Ferrari FXX ), new camshafts, new titan valve springs, new titan connecting rods, new oil cooling piston pipes, new exhaust manifolds, sport catalytic stainless, sport catalytic converter, sport air filter, air-ram system, fuel cooling system, new clutch, all bearings new, new oil pump, new gaskets, and dyno running wîth all work.
• sport catalytic converter stainless wîth two level switch controlled sound system, new tail pipes in carbon.
• volume of the exhaust per button push adjustable.
• ceramic sport break system wîth 396 mm brake disc front and 360 mm brake disc rear, special brake pads in front and rear l/i.
• wheels can be painted in different designs.
• tire-air-pressure control system shows pressure and temperature per wheel.
• headlamp-cover hand made form makrolon.
• design modification outside for example complete different color.
• independently adjustable dumping technology – rebound and compression dumping like FIA – GT MC12
air-in-take from carbon.
• 100 kg reduced weight.
• new racing wheels front 10 x 19 wîth 265/35 ZR19 Michelin, rear 13 x 20 wîth 335/30 ZR20 Michelin.

Audi R15 TDI '09
The Audi R15 TDI, commonly abbreviated to the R15, is a Le Mans Prototype (LMP) racing car constructed by the German car manufacturer Audi AG. It is the successor to the Audi R10 TDI.
Like its predecessor, the R15 TDI uses a turbocharged diesel engine, although the R15's V10 engine is physically smaller than the R10's V12. The smaller engine is pushed further toward the middle of the car than in the R10, resulting in a more neutral weight balance that gives the car better agility around the corners than its predecessor.
The R15 TDI features a 5.5 litres (336 cu in) Turbocharged Direct Injection (TDI) turbodiesel V10 engine, rated at over 650 hp and 1,050 newton metres (774 lb·ft) torque. The electrical system uses a lithium-ion battery, a first for Audi sports prototypes, as well as LED headlights, and a unique system of LED rear lights that are mounted on the rear wing endplate.

Mazda Shinari '10
Another four door sports coupe for all to love or hate. This one comes from Mazda and was unveiled in Milan, Italy. The Shinari is a four-door concept car that illustrates the direction Mazda will be taking for the design of their future cars. This direction is the result of a collaboration between Mazda’s styling studios in Germany, the United States, and Japan.
With the launch of the new concept, Mazda also announced that the company’s future design language will be described by the word Kodo, which is Japanese for soul of motion.

Probably because the R15 plus TDI is a piece of if compared to the R15 TDI.TheLuigi907 wrote:Why choosing this over the Audi R15 plus TDI死の (Shino) wrote:Audi R15 TDI '09
The appropriate name for it should be R15 minus TDI since it's worse in every performance category, with the only exception bein' the aerodynamics. It's only a heavier weaker version of the original car.

Somewhat of a fail to mention all these LED lights and not even show a picture of them, don't you agree?死の (Shino) wrote:The electrical system uses a lithium-ion battery, a first for Audi sports prototypes, as well as LED headlights, and a unique system of LED rear lights that are mounted on the rear wing endplate.

That "plus" in the name made me think it was a better/faster car.

I disagree, he did show the LED lights, but they were turned off.GodEneru wrote:Somewhat of a fail to mention all these LED lights and not even show a picture of them, don't you agree?死の (Shino) wrote:The electrical system uses a lithium-ion battery, a first for Audi sports prototypes, as well as LED headlights, and a unique system of LED rear lights that are mounted on the rear wing endplate.
