Toyota MR2 GT-S '97
Toyota MR2 GT-S '97.jpg
The second-generation MR2, which arrived in 1989, represented the all-new version of the AW11, Japan's first mass produced mid-engine sports car. Toyota wanted to broaden the appeal of its two-seater to the general public, so it made the car larger. To compensate for the added mass Toyota increased the power. The 4A-G, a 1.6-liter inlinr-4, was swapped in favor of the 3S-G, a 2.0-liter DOHC inline-4, which produced 162 HP in naturally aspirated form and 221 HP when turbocharged. Unfortunately, with the new engines the handling characteristics of the AW11 worsened, as the exhibited a tendency to oversteer. As a result, in December 1991, the chassis was completely revised in the updated SW20 II model.

Things dramatically improved, even more so in 1994 with version III that featured more power via a stronger turbocharger, 241 HP and 224.2 lb-ft of torque. The naturally aspirated model also saw an increase in performance going to 177 HP and 141.0 lb-ft of torque. In June 1996, the IV added a helical LSD, as well as standard fare ABS. In December 1997, the V introduced the VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing-intelligence) to the naturally aspirated engine that was now pumping out 197 HP and 151.8 ft-lb of torque. With all these improvements, the SW20 became one of the most popular sports cars of its days, outshining the AW11, the model that started it all.

Oh god, we just broke the 1500 cars mark.

I never thought there would be this many cars. Image

Even with not havin' any duplicates and keepin' the number of "useless everyday cars" below 10. Image

Don't worry about it, Tsuki-chan.

Our only currently active competitor has a total of5639 cars, yet they have never provided any information about the cars other than pictures.

Oh, that's nothing actually. :|

I'm complainin' about havin' 1500 cars,
but I've came across at least 2 lists that had more than 10.000 cars. Image

At least I try to keep it to only the more... appreciated special models,
but even when doin' so it is too much. Image

The main difference between my list and the other ones I mentioned (other than the quantity of vehicles) is the quality, they didn't offer any kind of information about the cars, or even pictures. Image

Pontiac GTO Ram Air 6 '04
Pontiac GTO Ram Air 6 '04.jpg
GM's Performance Division unveiled the Pontiac GTO Ram Air 6 Employee Enthusiasm (EE!) concept vehicles at the 2004 Woodward Dream Cruise. Created for show purposes, the vehicle was completed by GM employee volunteers using parts donated by GM Powertrain, GM Performance Parts, and GM Design Center.

The 2004 Pontiac GTO Ram Air 6 is reminiscent of the production Pontiac GTO Judge of the 60's and 70s. This vehicle is a modern interpretation of the classic, from its rollback orange exterior color to its authentic and functional ram air hood. The 389 cubic-inch V8 powerplant, matched with 6-speed manual transmission, supplies 575 horses to the 335/30/R20 inch rear tires. The front wheels are fitted with 285/30/20 high performance tires.

Caterham Seven Superlight R500 '08
Caterham Seven Superlight R500 '08.jpg
The Caterham 7 (or Caterham Seven) is a super-lightweight sports car produced by Caterham Cars in the United Kingdom. It is based on the Lotus Seven, a lightweight sports car sold in kit and factory-built form by Lotus Cars, from the late 1950s to the early 1970s. After Lotus ended production of the Lotus Seven, in 1972, Caterham bought the rights to the design, and today make both kits and fully assembled cars.

For those really serious about their driving, the famous supercar-slaying R500 moniker is back with the arrival of the all-new Caterham Seven Superlight R500.

The model from the British sportscar manufacturer takes the minimalist, lightweight Seven philosophy to a new level with more power, sharper handling and for those Venturing on track the option of launch control and the Caterham Motorsport engineered sequential gearbox.

Weighing just 506kg and producing 263 hp, R500 is one of the most potent race-tuned production Seven.

Lurking under the lightened bonnet is the all-alloy 2.0 litre Ford Duratec engine. Fed by its roller barrel throttle bodies, the normally aspirated, four-cylinder mill is tuned by Caterham Powertrain (CPT) to unleash a monster; 263 hp with a heaving 177 lb-ft of torque transmitted to the rear wheels. The relentless acceleration is transmitted through each ratio by either the standard 6-speed gearbox or the optional Caterham Motorsport engineered sequential transmission.

To help reign in such extreme performance are race-developed Avon CR500 tyres and a suspension set-up that includes weight saving aero wishbones and fully adjustable dampers. Bringing things ferociously to a halt are four-piston calipers clamping on vented discs at the front and lightweight twin piston rear calipers.

Ferrari FXX Evoluzione '08
Ferrari FXX Evoluzione '08.jpg
The Ferrari FXX is a high performance race car and prototype built by automobile manufacturer Ferrari in Maranello, Italy. The FXX is based on the street-legal Enzo.

Considering the company's rich racing heritage it is no surprise that the competition potential of every new Ferrari sportscar is subject of heavy speculation. When the Ferrari Enzo was launched in 2002, the speculation was fed by a number of grainy pictures of a black racer looking not too dissimilar to the new supercar. However with the sport's governing bodies' moratorium on moving aerodynamics it was unlikely that the Enzo could be turned into a racer. Until this day there are still many questions surrounding the mysterious black car shown in the spy shots, but it could very well just have been a pre-production test bed.

Shortly after the Enzo's production finished early in 2004, Maserati revealed an ambitious racing program with a mid-engined V12 sportscar. Although this MC12 looked completely different, it was soon clear that its roots lay in the Enzo supercar produced by Maserati's parent company. Maserati had combined the potent Enzo chassis with a fixed aerodynamic body to create an elligible racer before building road going replicas for homologation purposes. This controversial scheme recalled the days of GT1 racing and the car was not accepted well by the governing bodies. Le Mans' ACO refused the car and the FIA only accepted it after some modifications were made. While some anticipated a Maserati walk-over, the forced alterations had slowed the cars down considerably, but it still racked up several victories in the FIA GT World Championship.

It was a big surprise when Ferrari announced a third chapter to this story in June of 2005 after 400 Enzos and 50 MC12s were constructed. In an unusual arrangement the new EUR1.5 million product was to be a combination of a track day and development program for future products. The car involved was the Enzo derived FXX, which combined the original chassis with a 800 hp engine and a highly modified body. The original plan was that the customer could buy the FXX and then only drive it at various track-days with full Corse Cliente assistance. Much like a contemporary F1 racer the car's every move were tracked by technicians to use the data and driver input for future Ferrari products. Ferrari stressed that the car was neither homologated for the road or the track, making it the world's most expensive track-day machine.

The FXX shares its carbonfibre chassis and greenhouse with the Enzo, but both the nose and tail were completely redesigned. The revised aerodynamics resulted in a downforce increase of 40%. To suit a particular track the angle of the rear spoiler can be adjusted by the driver. The biggest news was found under the large engine cover; a 6.2 litre version of the 6 litre engine found in the Enzo and MC12. Ferrari claims the engine produces at least 800 hp and we have no reason to doubt that. The exhausts were re-routed and now exit right under the rear wings, swapping places with the tail lights. The engine is mated to a paddle operated semi-automatic gearbox that can change gears in a staggering 100 ms. Huge 19 inch alloy wheels were required to clear the specifically developed carbon ceramic break discs. Bridgestone provides a special 'Potenza Scuderia' slick tire for the FXX.

After the initial announcement in June of 2005, there was no news from this unique project for months until the car broke cover at Ferrari's season finale at Mugello in October. A few weeks later it was officially introduced at the Bologna Motorshow. Initially Ferrari expected to sell around 20 examples, but remarkably the demand was sufficiently high that 29 examples could be produced late in 2005. The first deliveries were made in December while the remaining cars were shipped to their owners in the first months of 2006.

During 2006 and 2007 around 20 examples were regularly exercised by its owners around the world. Then Ferrari used all the data gathered to produce an evolution package for the existing cars, needless to say to make them go faster still. The aerodynamics were modified and efficiency improved by 25%. The drivetrain was also overhauled and the output of the howling V12 was increased to 860 hp while the shift-time was lowered by 20 ms to 60 ms.

Over the 2007/2008 winter most of the existing examples were sent back to Maranello and refurbished with the 'Evoluzione' package.

Hahaha. Yep it is, at least until some interesting car is released with free DLC.

Ivory Tower should take the same approach Driveclub did, lots of cool obscure cars in that game, and as free DLC. :P
