Chrysler Firepower '05
Chrysler Firepower '05.jpg
The Chrysler Firepower was a Dodge Viper based concept car. It also takes some of the styling cues from the Chrysler Crossfire that DaimlerChrysler produced under the Chrysler brand. The concept was once featured on the cover of Car and Driver. Designers responsible for the design were Brian Nielander (exterior), who also worked on the ME Four-Twelve concept; and Greg Howell (interior).

The SRT-developed engine is exclusive to the Chrysler Group's high-performance products. Firepower uses a rear-wheel drive chassis with suspension and brakes fitting of a thoroughbred performance vehicle. A world-class 5-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick melds luxury and sport. Chrysler Group estimates 0-100 km/h performance at less than 4.5 seconds.

The exterior is covered in Hydro Silver Pearl, with dark carbon fiber and polished aluminium accents. In addition to embodying Chrysler grand tourer spirit in the exterior design, Computational Fluid Dynamics modeling was used to shape the body with aerodynamics in mind. Design for proper engine cooling as well as down force in the rear are achieved through this modeling.

Climax Sports Roadster '07
Concept Climax Roadster '07.jpg
Inspired by the legendary Cooper Climax F1 car of the late 50's, The Climax is a modern take on a British sports car, designed with the motoring enthusiast in mind. The car is a two seater with ample weekend away space. Powered by ethanol, The Climax offers competitive performance figures comparable to the Lotus Elise. The driver can programme the car via their lap top and make adjustments to the car's ECU using the Climax Control, enabling the car to be used on the road or as a track-day racer.

The light weight body, rigid chassis and minimal un-sprung weight ensures the climax has ultimate stance and balance.

The Climax offers a unique driving experience, designed with no roof, windscreen or doors. Sprinting to the car, launching your self over the bodywork, into the cockpit will evoke memories of classic Le Mans type race cars. The combination of wind in your face and being seated 6 inches from the road adds to the extreme feeling of speed and gives your body a shot of adrenaline every time. By using the Climax Control, within seconds, the car can be set up for the country lane or boosted to the max for the track.

Hahaha. Yep it is, at least until some interesting car is released with free DLC.

Ivory Tower should take the same approach Driveclub did, lots of cool obscure cars in that game, and as free DLC. :P
The only thing that keeps me playing The Crew is the huge map and the fact that I usually only cruise with one friend only.

I can withstand the bugs.

Now that you mentioned it, looking at DriveClub's car list makes me feel disappointed with The Crew's, there isn't a single so called "obscure car" in the f***ing game! At least TDU had some and TDU2 too with the trackday cars like the Ariel and Caterham. *Sigh*

I'm thinking about buying DriveClub now...

I guess this list can only make you angrier at these games. The number of cool rare cars Shino, Tsukishima and Viktor K. were able to find is incredible.

The Driveclub devs are awesome for including cars like that in the game.

I would say if you love cars then it is worth every penny, the immense detail of the cars exterior and interior, the sounds, the wipers going and scenery alone is worth the money.

Callaway Super Speedster LM '91
Callaway Super Speedster LM '91.jpg
Offered from the original owner’s collection, this 1991 Chevrolet Corvette Callaway Super Speedster LM is the second of only two so-called Series II Super Speedsters based on the ZR1 model.

The offspring of collaboration between Corvette performance guru Reeves Callaway and designer Paul Deutschman, the Super Speedster LM is an astonishing step up on the original Speedster, taking full advantage of the ZR1’s Lotus-engineered, all-aluminum DOHC engine and 6-speed manual transmission.

One of only three twin turbocharged and intercooled LT5 engines built by Callaway, it delivers a pavement-shredding 766 HP, making the car the most powerful of all the twelve Speedsters produced by the company. More than “just” an incredibly well-engineered engine swap, the Callaway possesses engineering modifications to the suspension and driveline that fully complement its massive power output.

The Le Mans body is the only one used on a Speedster. Designed by Paul Deutschman, the Super Speedster LM is a unique combination of his brilliant Callaway Speedster and the dramatic and aerodynamically efficient Le Mans GT2 pole-winning Callaway LM racer. Luxurious appointments abound in the LM’s interior, which features the consummate craftsmanship of Johann Merkhofer. Lavishly finished in leather and suede with specially embroidered seats, it is fully equipped with comfort and convenience features that include air conditioning and Delco Bose stereo with CD.

Unique among Callaway Speedsters is the car’s removable double-bubble hard top, which shares the car’s gorgeous Candy Wine Red paint and evokes the closed-cockpit C7R racers.

Aston Martin Rapide S '15
Aston Martin Rapide S '15.jpg
Aston Martin began making a name for itself in the four-door, luxury sedan market as early as 1961, when the Lagonda Rapide was launched. Its successor — the iconic Lagonda — came 15 years later and survived until 1990 as one of the most expensive saloons in the world. It took Aston Martin nearly 20 years to develop a spiritual successor to the Lagonda, which was introduced in 2010 under the Rapide nameplate. Initially powered by a 5.9-liter V-12 rated at 470 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque, the Rapide became the Rapide S in 2013, when a engine tuning, which was part of a facelift, increased output to 550 ponies and 457 pound-feet. Drivetrain enhancements also brought significant improvements in the performance and emissions department, further increasing the Rapide’s appeal. Although the sedan remained largely unchanged for the 2014 model year, a 2015 update brought important under-the-skin modifications and new color options inside and out.

Minor power gains and an all-new transmission account for a significant increase in performance, as both acceleration and top speed figures have been largely improved.

When compared to the previous model, in the new Rapide S’ engine has been lowered by 19 millimeters (0.74 inches), so a few changes were required on the car’s exterior. These updates include a new bonnet, new front bumper construction and new grille.

On the exterior and the interior changes are quite limited, but there are tons of updates under the hood. In here, Aston Martin placed a new version of the new AM11 naturally-aspirated 5.9-liter V-12 engine that delivers 17 percent more horsepower and 3 percent more torque than the previous version.

As a result, customers will now enjoy a total of 550 horsepower at 6,750 rpm and a peak torque of 457 pound-feet delivered at 5,000 rpm. Thanks to the extra 81 horsepower, the new Rapide S will sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds (down from 5.2 seconds).

The improved V-12 engine received CNC-machined combustion chambers and dual variable camshaft timing, knock sensing, and a fully catalyzed stainless steel exhaust system.

Mercedes-AMG GT S '14
Mercedes-AMG GT S '14.jpg
The Mercedes-AMG GT is a 2-door, 2-seat sports car produced by Mercedes-AMG since 2014. Designed as a successor to the SLS AMG, it is the second sports car developed entirely in-house by Mercedes-AMG.

Although smaller than the SLS AMG, the GT can be considered the former’s spiritual successor from a design point of view. The sports car’s lines are muscular and dramatic, two features that are more noticeable now that the veils have been lifted. Much like the SLS AMG and the iconic 300SL Gullwing, the GT is highlighted by its long hood, a short boot and a greenhouse that has been moved farther toward the rear.

Needless to say, the front fascia also reminds me of the SLS AMG. A wide grille fitted with Mercedes’ new diamond pattern dominates the landscape, with beautifully shaped headlamps extending onto the fenders. Down below, a thin air dam makes up most of the apron, while large intakes are mounted on each side to help cool those large front brakes. The resemblance continues around back, but, much like its front end, the Mercedes-AMG GT’s rear fascia brings new styling cues into the equation. The thin taillights provide a great contrast to the beefy bumper and large exhaust tips. More importantly, the regular trunk lid of the SLS has been replaced by a larger lid that now incorporates the rear glass.

Overall, the AMG GT is shorter than the SLS AMG, but at the same time it kept the latter’s wide and low stance. The design is not overly dramatic and it certainly doesn’t represent a significant departure from the SLS, but the AMG GT boasts that pure sports car emotion we expect from vehicles that can perform on the street as well as on the track.

Displacing 4.0 liters in a 90-degree, V-8 configuration, the aluminum block features a closed-deck design for added rigidity, while keeping its weight at only 461 pounds. The engine makes use of the innovated ‘Hot Vee’ configuration that routes the hot exhaust gases to the center Vee section, while the cool, fresh air is routed in from the outer sections of the cylinder heads. While it’s backwards from most conventional engines, it allows nearly instantiations pressure to the two turbochargers mounted within the Vee.

Forged aluminum pistons are fitted with ‘friction-optimized’ rings and the cylinder walls are covered with a NANOSLIDE coating for further friction reduction. A dry-sump oiling system keeps parts properly lubricated even when under extreme lateral Gs, and eliminates the need for a large oil pan. Without the bulky pan, Mercedes and AMG were able to lower the engine, decreasing the car’s overall center of gravity.

The four overhead cam shafts are fully variable in their timing and work with Piezo direct fuel injectors to deliver a precise amount of fuel for varying circumstances. The two turbochargers’ temperatures are kept in check by an indirect intercooling system with a low-temperature water circuit. The result is cooler air entering the engine at higher pressure. That combination helps the 4.0-liter V-8 generate its 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque in the top-level Mercedes-AMG GT S.

Even though the GT promises to be quite the performer at the track, Mercedes and AMG have also focused on driving dynamics and comfort for long journeys. The sports car rides on a motorsport-sourced, double-wishbone suspension on the front and rear. The wishbones, steering knuckles and hub carriers are made entirely out of forged aluminum, which reduces the unsprung masses and elastic movements, and improves cornering speeds. At the same time, the direct connection of the shock absorber on the rear hub carrier reduces vibrations and wheel load fluctuations.

Ah, the AMG GT S... Perhaps my favourite Mercedes after the CLK-GTR Supersport, better than any Porsche. Image

Porsche Panamera Turbo S '14
Porsche Panamera Turbo S '14.jpg
The Porsche Panamera (type number 970) is a luxury four-door sedan. It is front-engined with rear-wheel drive, with four-wheel drive versions also available.

The Porsche Panamera production model was unveiled at the 13th Auto Shanghai International Automobile Show in Shanghai, China, on April 2009. In 2011, hybrid and diesel versions were launched. In April 2013, a facelift to the Panamera was announced, launching again at the Auto Shanghai show.

Porsche is placing its fastest, most powerful and most luxurious Panamera at the peak of its Gran Turismo series: With a power output of 570 hp and a top speed of 310 km/h plus a particularly extensive and top-quality range of features, the Panamera Turbo S is guaranteed a special status in its market segment. For the first time ever, an Executive version of the Panamera Turbo S is also available with a wheelbase that has been extended by 15 centimetres. As a result, the Panamera Turbo S Executive offers significantly more space and even more comfort, particularly at the rear. Thermal and noise-insulated windows, which include privacy glazing, the interior lighting package designed especially for the rear and a large centre console at the rear are just some of the extensive equipment options that belong to this series. The new top model in the Panamera model line will be celebrating its world premiere at the Tokyo Motor Show.

The sporty, luxurious character of the new Panamera Turbo S is evident not only in its driving performance but also in the key distinguishing features of its appearance. The Palladium, metallic exterior colour, which is available solely for the new Panamera Turbo S, gives the top model an especially exclusive look and enhances the classy, elegant contours. An indication of the vehicle's outstanding driving dynamics is provided by the 20-inch 911 Turbo II wheels, which are not only larger but also significantly wider than the standard wheels belonging to other Gran Turismo models. The four-way rear spoiler, painted in the same colour as the exterior, is another unique feature.

The new top Panamera model from Porsche features an exceptionally extensive range of equipment appropriate for a top model in the luxury class. It features all of the driving dynamics control systems available for the model range as standard. The Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), an active roll stabilisation system, starts reducing the vehicle's lateral inclination as it approaches bends, thereby increasing agility and comfort in equal measure. The Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) system works with a variable standard torque split at the rear wheels in combination with an electronically controlled rear-axle differential lock to provide improved traction in any driving situation. Thanks to the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB), the Panamera Turbo S benefits from a high-performance brake system that is particularly resistant to brake fading and wear. The speed-sensitive Power Steering Plus represents the steering system. The chassis of the Panamera Turbo S of course features the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) adaptive damper control and adaptive air suspension with additional air volume.

A 50-bhp increase in power compared to the Panamera Turbo engine has been achieved through specific revision work on a number of components. Porsche is now using two new turbochargers with larger compressors in the Panamera Turbo S model. The new compressors increase the air flow and the charger injects more oxygen into the combustion chambers at high loads and speeds. In addition, the injection pressure has been increased by 20 bar to 140 bar. Together, both of these measures also enable higher component loads, which are absorbed by pistons made from a new aluminium alloy and specially coated piston rings.

This concept has two further advantages: By preparing the air-fuel mixture in the combustion chambers more effectively, the torque also increases by 50 Nm to 750 Nm at between 2250 and 5000 rpm, with the overboost increasing to 800 Nm. The extra torque makes overtaking even easier and faster, for instance. The second enhancement is the fact that the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) fuel consumption figures for the new model are the same as those of the Panamera Turbo at 10.2 litres per 100 km, which is more than 11% less than the predecessor model.

Thanks to the optional sports exhaust system, the Panamera Turbo S offers drivers the opportunity to revel in the sound of motorsport whenever they wish. This unique sound experience is achieved by means of an acoustic channel that can be switched at the push of a button; this channel directs the engine sound straight into the interior. In addition, individual cylinders are skipped when switching up a gear, allowing the engine speed to fall faster and the clutch to engage quickly.
