McLaren P1 '13
McLaren P1 '13.jpg
The McLaren P1 is a huge step forward for the company and for the hypercar game in general. It represents the pinnacle of McLaren ’s knowledge in creating road cars that integrate the best Formula 1 technology to achieve searing performance on par with the best of the best from Ferrari and Pagani.

One of the P1’s most striking styling features are its black panels. These painted panels contrast with gloss-black accents around the front bumper, the side scoops and the roof. The black areas serve double duty by emphasizing the P1’s performance credentials, as well as hiding the many functional aero and cooling ducts.

The rear of the P1 is its most successful area. The long sloping back glass shows off the engine cover and the fenders waste no time bulging over the enormous rear tires. The tail of the P1 is deliciously minimal in its design, with the giant engine and venture vents forming the entire rear bumper. The LED taillights form a glamorous arc of light that winds around the wildly flared fender bulges.

The interior of the P1 shows big progress over the vaguely unfinished appearance in the 12C. In contrast to the first 18 months of 12C production, the electronic screens that serve as the P1’s speedo and navigation appear to be functioning. Other tweaks to the 12C theme include steering-wheel-mounted buttons for the first time, controlling the F1-style iPAS electronic boost function and the drag reduction system (DRS) that disables the air brake functions of the rear spoiler.

The P1 features a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine that is only similar to the MP4-12C motor in its displacement. The twin turbos boost the petrol motor at 2.4 bar to deliver 727 hp and 719 Nm (531 lb ft) of torque at 7500 rpm, combined with an in-house developed electric motor producing 176 hp and 260 Nm (192 lb ft). With both motors, the P1 will have a total power and torque output of 903 hp and 978 Nm (722 lb ft) of torque respectively. The electric motor can be deployed manually by the driver or left in automatic mode, whereby the car's ECUs 'torque fill' the gaps in the petrol motor's output, which is considered turbo lag. This gives the powertrain an effective powerband of almost 7000rpm. The car is rear-wheel drive with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission by Graziano.

Nissan IDx Nismo '13
Nissan IDx Nismo '13.jpg
The Nissan IDx is a concept car introduced at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show by Nissan. It is supposedly inspired by the Datsun 510. The IDx is Nissan's answer to the "RWD tuner craze" that is ongoing and a direct competitor to the Hyundai Genesis coupe & Scion FRS/Subaru BRZ.

Certain elements of the IDx Nismo, specifically Nissan’s basic box-shaped racing vehicles of the past, were combined with more modern details, including a reverse-slanted nose that features a uniquely shaped front end with sharp corners, modern LED headlights, a pronounced grille and a front bumper. But that’s not all; the IDx Nismo also comes with a glass roof, an eye-catching three-color finish made up of a predominantly white body with black and red racing accents, including a number "80" livery that has some significance to it that only Nissan can tell us.

Aerodynamic features, specifically the abundance of aero spoilers and a new set of 19-inch lightweight rims and tires, round out the exterior packaging of what can be best described as a rather unique-looking concept.

The interior of the IDx Nismo is what you’d expect from a concept vehicle with a racing spirit to it. There are no futuristic holograms of any sort; just a racing-inspired cabin with crimson Alcantara seats, Spartan-looking meters and gauges, and metal surfaces that serve as nice contrasts to a bright-red suede trim with matching blue stitching.

Nissan didn’t announce performance numbers for the IDx Nismo but it's speculated The NISMO version will probably produce 200-230 hp with its 1.6L I4 shared with the Juke NISMO.

Škoda 110 Super Sport '71
Škoda 110 Super Sport '71.jpg
The Škoda 110 Supersport (type 724) was a prototype sports car with a rear engine and rear-wheel drive, development took place in the years 1969-1971 and in 1971 the prototype was completed.

The car had an aerodynamic body made of fiberglass. In the rear of the car, it was placed the motor - an inline four-cylinder from Škoda 110 L Rally, it was able to achieve a maximum speed of 180 km/h and acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 12.6 seconds.

In Czechoslovakia, the car was criticized for too angular shapes but in the west of Europe, the Škoda 110 Supersport scored better than Aston Martins on Road and Track magazine.

Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale '13
Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale '13.jpg
The Maserati GranTurismo is a two-door, four-seat coupé produced by the Italian car manufacturer Maserati. It shares the platform of the Maserati Quattroporte V and parts of the Ferrari 599 GTB and Scaglietti.

The MC Stradale is inspired by the Trofeo GranTurismo MC, but it needed to be modified in order to become road legal. For that Maserati Maserati needed a car with great aerodynamic down force at high speed without creating more drag, even while it is diverting airflow into effectively cooling its brakes. So, the MC Stradale has received a new front splitter and a redesigned rear bumper that adds an extra 48 mm to the total length, while the front splitter, side skirts and the front guard panels all combine as one unit in order to push the nose of the car down at high speed, to cool the brakes, extract the hot air from the braking system and to provide down force along the length of the car.

Also, the car gets two hot air extraction outlets in the bonnet and the rear bumper has also been re-profiled, with the exhausts emerging closer to the center of the car. The entire look is completed by a new set of flow-formed 20-inch wheels. It is also 110 kg lighter from the GranTurismo, and more aerodynamic than any previous GranTurismo model.

The interior also needed to be adapted for a high performance sports car. The shell seats are made in carbon fiber combined with high-tech padding and materials and a Trident logo stitched into the headrests.

Under the hood, Maserati includes the 4.7-liter V-8 engine that was firstly used in the GranTurismo Sport. With this new engine, the 2013 MC Stradale delivers a total of 460 horsepower. The engine is mated to an MC Race Shift six-speed robotized manual gearbox.

I will never understand that, mainly because there were already cars with 300+ HP in that epoch. :?

Volkswagen Concept R '03
Volkswagen Concept R '03.jpg
The Volkswagen Concept R is a concept car developed by the German automaker Volkswagen and officially unveiled at the 2003 Frankfurt Auto Show. It is a study of a sporty two-seat roadster with mid-engine and rear wheel drive.

The Concept R is powered by a V6 3.2 L FSI petrol engine developing a maximum output of 265 hp at 6,250 rpm and 236.1 ft·lb of torque at 2,800 rpm. It is strong enough to accelerate the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds and make it reach the electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h. Without the speed governor, the car would be even able to reach the top speed of 270 km/h. The power is transferred to the road via a six-speed direct-shift gearbox.

The designer team for this concept was led by Murat Günak and Peter Schreyer, and broke the ground for the Volkswagen brand in developing the roadster vehicle. At 164 inches of length, 70 inches of width and 49 inches of height, the Concept R roadster has almost the same length and width as the fifth generation Volkswagen Golf hatchback, on whose platform it has been built.

The concept has some interesting design features such as the Volkswagen logo which is generated digitally by a display and begins to pulsate in the so-called OLED screen when the driver turns on the ignition. When the ignition is activated the pulse stops. Also, its seats are not adjustable in any way and the driver must electrically move the polished metal information block of the instrument panel, including the steering wheel and pedal cluster back or forth to find the correct seating position. For the first time in a sports car, the seats are filled with active foam which adapts to the body shape of the driver and passenger.

Chevrolet Cosworth Vega '95
Chevrolet Cosworth Vega '95.jpg
The Chevrolet Cosworth Vega, also called Cosworth Twin-Cam, is a subcompact four-passenger automobile produced by the Chevrolet division of General Motors for the 1975 and 1976 model years. It is a limited-production version of the Vega, with higher performance.

All 2,061 1975 Cosworth Vegas were finished in black acrylic lacquer with gold "Cosworth Twin Cam" lettering on the front fenders and rear cove panel and gold pinstriping on hood bulge, body sides, wheel openings, and rear cove. (Black was unavailable on other Vegas until mid-1976.) Most have black interiors. The custom interior with perforated vinyl seat trim (RPO ZJ1) was standard, with black cloth seat inserts a $50 option. About 16 percent had white vinyl interiors. All Cosworths had a gold-colored engine-turned dash bezel, gold-plated dash plaque with build sequence number, 8,000 rpm tachometer, and Cosworth Twin-Cam Vega steering wheel emblem.

'Torque arm' rear suspension is like that of the Monza 2+2, and the axle, from the Monza 2+2, gives a 3.73:1 ratio from a 7.5-inch (190 mm) ring gear. A limited slip differential was optional. Included were GT springs, shocks, and stabilizer bars (larger at the rear than the Vega GT's); exclusive BR70-13 BSW radial tires on British-made 6 inch, gold-painted cast aluminum wheels with Chevy center caps; black-finished wiper arms, H.D. radiator and provisions for “Fast Steer” option. The Vega was the first Chevrolet passenger car with electronic fuel injection.

Known at Cosworth Engineering as Project EA, a Cosworth racing engine based on the Vega aluminum block produced a reported 260 hp and powered Chevron and Lola race cars to wins in the 2-liter class in their first outings. The ZO9 Cosworth Vega engine is a de-tuned version. Bore, stroke and valve sizes are identical but it lacks the EA engine’s dry sump lubricating system (unnecessary in a street use car), has a lower compression ratio and different valve timing, and uses Bendix electronic fuel injection instead of Lucas mechanical injection to cope with a wider range of operating conditions as well as emission controls.
