Zenvo ST1 '15
Zenvo ST1 '15.jpg
Zenvo Automotive is a Danish supercar manufacturer located in Præstø on the Danish island of Zealand. It was founded by Troels Vollertsen, and the name 'Zenvo' is derived from a combination of the first 2 and last 3 letters in his last name.

The Zenvo ST1 is a high performance supercar manufactured by the Danish company. It is the company's first model, and is manufactured almost entirely by the hands of a small team of workers, with the exception of a CNC router. The first prototype of what became the Zenvo ST1 was completed in December 2008 and production began in 2009.

With the kind of persistence one needs to be successful in the ultra-competitive world of supercars, Zenvo has continued to refine its ST1 and at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show unveiled an updated version.

The most significant update is a new sequential transmission that replaces the previous manual. The new transmission, sourced from Italy’s CIMA, features seven forward gears and a single clutch. Gear shifts are said to take place in as little as 35 milliseconds, making this one of the fastest shifting, single clutch transmissions in the world.

Other updates for the ST1 include new wheel patterns, more luxurious items in the cabin, and some additional options.

The car’s powerplant is an in-house developed 6.8-liter V-8 that benefits from both supercharging and turbocharging. The engine delivers a peak 1,104 horsepower and 1,054 pound-feet of torque, and drives the rear wheels only.

The body of the ST1 is all carbon fiber, and is wrapped around a hybrid structure comprised of high-strength steel for the central monocoque and aluminum for the front and rear subframes.

Mazda Cosmo AP RX-5 '75
Mazda Cosmo AP RX-5 '75.jpg
The Mazda Cosmo was a grand touring coupé produced by Mazda Motor Corporation from 1967 to 1995. Throughout its history, the Cosmo served as a "halo" vehicle for Mazda, with the first Cosmo successfully launching the Mazda Wankel engine. The final generation of Cosmo served as Mazda's flagship vehicle in Japan, being sold as the Eunos Cosmo through its luxuryEunos division in Japan.

Mazda chose to use the name cosmo, reflecting international cultural fascination with the Space Race, as Mazda wanted to showcase the rotary engine as forward-thinking, with a focus on future developments and technology.

The Mazda RX-5 is easily the most unloved “RX” car ever sold. When Mazda decided to revive the Cosmo name on a 2+2 GT at the height of the mid-70s luxo-barge craze, it dropped the “Sport” altogether and gave it an “AP” suffix. That stood for Anti-Pollution — this was post-oil-crisis.

The Cosmo RX-5 was Mazda's largest rotary-powered coupe, based on the LA series Mazda Luce floorpan and mechanics, but slightly heavier due to body design and more luxurious appointments, including a five-link rear suspension and rear disc brakes. It was available with the 12A and 13B engines. This series Cosmo was joined by the short-lived Mazda Roadpacer, a large, heavy sedan powered only by a rotary engine.

Rebellion R-One AER '15
Rebellion R-One AER '15.jpg
Rebellion Racing is a Swiss racing team that competes in endurance racing. The team competed in the 2011 Intercontinental Le Mans Cup season and won the LMP1 teams' title in the 2011 Le Mans Series season. The team started as an association between Speedy Racing and Sebah Racing, which began in 2008. Rebellion Racing's team principal is Alexandre Pesci and the team manager is Bart Hayden.

The Rebellion R-One is a sports prototype racing car built by French constructor Oreca on behalf of Swiss-based team Rebellion Racing. It is designed to meet the 2014 LMP1-L regulations for Le Mans Prototypes in the FIA World Endurance Championship as well as at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and replaces the Lola B12/60 chassis. The first two R-One's debuted at the 2014 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, round two of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The car underwent an engine change for the 2015 season, REBELLION Racing’s Rebellion R-One LMP-1 cars will be powered by twin-turbo engines from Advanced Engine Research based in Basildon, Essex, UK. REBELLION Racing will switch from naturally aspirated Toyota RV8K-LM 3.4 litre V8 engines to AER P60 V6 GDI twin-turbocharged power units. This necessitated extensive revisions to the chassis and as a result the team missed the first 2 races of the season to modify and test the cars.

Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R (KPGC110) '73
Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R (KPGC110) '73.jpg
The C10 Skyline, nicknamed "Hakosuka" (meaning box skyline), handed the baton to a new model in September 1972. The new model C110 was given the nickname "Kenmeri" from its commercials and was an explosion hit immediately after its debut.

The body had a fluid form, omitting all unnecessary lines. However, it still had the surface lines and the four headlights that were identifying marks of the Skyline.

The GT-R emblem returned to this Kenmeri in the following year, in January 1973. The model code of this GT-R was KPGC110, and it was equipped with the same legendary engine, the S20 inline 6-cylinder. There was no change in the 157 HP maximum power and 130.1 ft-lb maximum torque. The front strut and rear semi-trailing arm suspension was also the same as the previous GT-R, but the new 4-wheel disc brakes were an advancement.

If all went well, this Kenmeri GT-R should have won many battles on race circuits as well, but what this car had to fight was the rising emissions regulations. The S20 was almost a pure racing engine and could not overcome this fierce foe. So Nissan made a difficult decision. After only 3 months and 197 cars built, this Kenmeri GT-R disappeared, without ever having fought in a race. Thereafter, Nissan would seal away the GT-R emblem for 16 years, until its comeback with the R32.

Subaru Legacy Concept '13
Subaru Legacy Concept '13.jpg
The Subaru Legacy Concept made its official debut on November 20th, 2013. It was displayed at Subaru’s booth at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show.

The concept features a custom Ocean Silver Metallic paint scheme combined with a coupe-like silhouette. It also offers a modern interpretation of Subaru’s design theme, with a new hexagonal grille and a sharper hawk-eye headlamp design. The design is heavily influenced by the Viziv concept that Subaru unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The roofline travels sleekly from the front windshield, over the glass roof and down shallow-raked rear window, and it offers an aggressive look to the new Legacy.

Around back, the taillights feature the same design language seen on the headlights, while the new dual tailpipes embedded in a deep recess in the bumper offer the concept a sportier look. The Legacy’s body is rounded out with an updated rear bumper, a stylish rear diffuser and upscale aluminum-silver garnishes.

FSO Syrena Sport '57
FSO Syrena Sport '57.jpg
The FSO Syrena Sport was a Polish prototype sports car designed and built in the late 1950s by a group of engineers at the Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych FSO, which due to general economic and political reasons never went into mass production.

The Syrena Sport was 2-door coupe designed by Cezary Nawrot, with a fiberglass body on a steel chassis with strengthened floor panel.

Originally, the car was not intended for production – it was a test platform for a number of solutions and production technologies intended for the modification of Syrena sedan, which was mass-produced since 1955. Cezary Nawrot on purpose designed a very low and flat bonnet, to avoid a standard 2-stroke 2-cylinder S-15 engine (used in other Syrenas) to be installed in this car. Consequently, the available, completely new 4-stroke flat-twin engine, designated S-16, designed by Władysław Skoczyński and Andrzej Zatoń was used. Contrary to a widespread opinion, the engine did not share internal components with Panhard Dyna - only Panhard's engine accessories, such as the carburettor and ignition were used to simplify testing of the prototype. The intended rated power was around 50 bhp, but the first prototype developed around 35 bhp - performance test were carried out, but their results have not been preserved. Stanisław Łukaszewicz was the chief designer of another important innovation: self-supporting chassis with strengthened floor panel - other Syrenas at that time used traditional steel ladder frame. The stylish body of the car was moulded in fibreglass, which was the first such attempt at FSO. Syrena Sport also had a new independent rear suspension with trailing arms and torsion bars designed by Antoni Drozdek. Some other systems were built and tested, such as FSO’s first floor shifting mechanism and hydraulic-controlled clutch. Naturally, many mechanical and electrical parts were taken directly from other versions of the Syrena, including transmission, headlights, dials, etc.

As the young designer team were largely given free hand in realising their aspirations, the effect of their work was a surprisingly beautiful car. Chief designer Cezary Nawrot admitted being inspired by various Ferrari models and Mercedes-Benz 190SL. After its presentation on the Labour Day, (1 May) the car quickly became a sensation, and was widely described in the automobile press of the day – especially the "Motor" weekly. At least once the car featured in the daily TV news programme "Dziennik Telewizyjny" (TV Journal). A short mention and a photo of Syrena Sport appeared in the prestigious Swiss yearly Automobile Year 1960-1961, and in May 1960 the Italian nationwide daily newspaper "Il Giorno" described Syrena Sport as "the most beautiful car built behind the Iron Curtain".

Kia Forte Koup Type R '10
Kia Forte Koup Type R '10.jpg
The Kia Forte is a compact car produced by the South Korean manufacturer Kia Motors since mid-2008. It replaced the Kia Cerato and is available in two-door coupé, four-door sedan, five-door hatchback variants. It is not available in Europe, where the similar sized Kia Cee'd is offered (except for Russia and Ukraine, where the Cee'd and the Forte are both available). In South Korea, this car is marketed as the Kia K3. In some markets, such as Uruguay, Australia and Brazil, the Forte is marketed as the Kia Cerato replacing its predecessor of the same name. In Colombia and Singapore, the name Kia Cerato Forte is used.

The first generation Forte shares the same platform as the Hyundai Elantra (HD), though employing a torsion-beam rear suspension in place of the Elantra's multilink design. Kia has stated that the Forte was specifically designed to target younger buyers attracted to sharper auto designs.

In 2010, Kia Motors presented the Kia Forte Koup Type R at the SEMA aftermarket show, the concept was developed by Kia's racing partner, Kinetic Motorsports, who built and campaigns the Forte Koup race cars. The concept is said to be inspired by its racing siblings that take part in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.

The Type R Concept gets a matte gray exterior paint job that works with enhanced exterior panels to make the front fenders, rocker panels, and rear quarter panels appear longer. BBS RG 18-inch forged aluminum alloy wheels and racing-inspired tires along with a modified front end add to the overall look of the car.

The interior of the Type R now offers custom seat/door treatments as well as a few ergonomic improvements for the driver. Other additions include a short throw shift kit with Kinetic gear shift knob and carbon inlay, and a dampened composite fiber disc clutch.

Mine's Lancer Evolution VI '00
Mine's Lancer Evolution VI '00.jpg
The Lancer Evolution VI had been originally released as a rally-based vehicle, but it also garnered a reputation for being being an extraordinary machine on paved racetracks. Therefore, there were many aftermarket versions offered to set lap records at places like Tsukuba Circuit. The Mine's Lancer Evo VI was one of the most formidable examples. Mine's, one of the most famous tuners in Japan, turned the already potent road machine into a firebreathing monster.

What made Mine's cars attractive was that in addition to being high-powered, the company kept the vehicle's drivability and civility intact. The case was no different in the Evo. It featured a turbine engine that pumped out extra power, but tuned to produce lots of low- and mid-range torque. The turbocharger was swapped in favor of HKS's GT2835. Changes were made to breathing, too, with custom exhaust parts making the car not only more powerful, but better sounding. A new ECU, the VX-ROM, was also installed.

Mine's swapped the stock suspension shocks for Ohlins height-adjustable dampers, which is part of the company's Esta suspension package. The front and rear stabilizer bars were also reinforced in order to keep body roll minimal. After all the changes, the all-wheel-drive Evo became a street-able race car, one that you could drive to the circuit, race, and then drive home. It was magnificently balanced, without the understeer associated with the stock car.

RMR Genesis PM580-T '13
RMR Genesis PM580-T '13.jpg
The RMR Hyundai Genesis PM580 (RMR PM580, Hyundai PM580, Hyundai RMR PM580) is a LeMans-style race car built by Rhys Millen Racing (RMR) racing to compete in the 2010 Pikes Peak International Hillclimb Unlimited class and designed to break the 2007 record time of 10:01.408 minutes set by Nobuhiro Tajima's in a Suzuki XL7 Hill Climb Special.

In 2013, RMR built a new version named Hyundai RMR PM580-T (Hyundai Genesis PM580T) to break the record in Pikes Peak previously held by the Hyundai RMR Genesis Coupe, although it placed 2nd overall. The PM580T is again a Pikes Peak-specific prototype, based heavily on the previous PM580 prototype.

A close look reveals a carbon fiber monocoque tub, actually a Gen-1 Crawford Performance Engineering Daytona Prototype chassis (manufactured in November 2005), clearly visible through the custom tubing. With the exception of the pushrod suspension with coil-overs, brake ducting for the iron rotors on the outsides of the frame rails and the large aluminum radiator tilted forward to swallow fresh airflow at altitude (the blue hose, mounted just ahead of the radiator, provides a cooling spray of water).

The rear, however, was all business as the race team had bolted one of Hyundai's Lambda V6 engines in place. While the engine started life as a naturally-aspirated 3.8-liter, it now existed as a 4.1-liter V6 forced to breathe through an absolutely massive Garrett turbocharger. A custom intake, free-flow exhaust, specialized engine management and a diet of racing fuel provide all of the proper ingredients to generate upwards of 900 horsepower. The rear-wheel drive powertrain features a sequential six-speed gearbox, with a clutch for launch. The most striking part of the engine bay was unquestionably the gold foil, its bright surface covering as much as possible in an effort to reflect the immense heat away from critical parts.
