Chevrolet Camaro Yenko RS/SS 427 '68
Chevrolet Camaro Yenko RSSS 427 '68.jpg
Yenko Chevrolet, located in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, was one of largest custom muscle car shops of the late 1960s and early 1970s. When the Camaro entered the pony car fray in 1967, Yenko transplanted Chevrolet's 427 cubic inch (7 L), 425 horsepower L-72 engine (along with other high-performance parts) and created the Yenko Camaro. The 1967 & 1968 427 Camaros were so popular that, in 1969, Yenko used Chevrolet's Central Office Production Order (COPO) system to have L-72 engines installed into Chevrolet Camaros, Chevelles, and Novas on the factory assembly lines.

The Yenko Camaro holds a special place in the history of Chevrolet’s pony car. First produced in 1967, the Yenko Camaro answered the demand for a big block Camaro with enough cubic inches and power to take on the much higher-displacement Ford Cobra Jet and Chrysler Hemi engines. With Corvette’s L72 427 CI big block under the special fiberglass hood, a four-speed transmission, 4.10 Positraction rear end, front disc brakes and heavy-duty suspension, the Yenko 427 was every Camaro drag racer’s dream come true. As ubiquitous as they seemed at the time thanks to contemporary wall-to-wall magazine coverage and advertising, only 65 Yenko 427 Camaros rumbled out of Don Yenko’s Canonsburg, Pennsylvania dealership in 1968.

Of those hand-built rarities, only 11 were delivered in SS trim together with the Rally Sport package, one of which was offered recently in rare Matador Red with Black stripes and a Black vinyl top. Faithfully restored by Chuck Huber of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. The 1968 Yenko Camaro RS/SS 427 was named the 1992 Muscle Car of the Year by Muscle Car Review. It has also been the subject of five magazine feature articles and appears in the book “Yenko: The Man, The Machines, The Legend” by Bob McClurg. It is powered by the L72 427/450 HP engine backed by a Muncie M21 close ratio 4-speed and carries all the signature details: scooped and pinned fiberglass hood, Yenko and 427 badges, Yenko center caps on Pontiac Rally wheels with Redline tires and, in the Black bucket seat interior, a Stewart Warner tach and auxiliary gauges.

Hyundai Azera Lambda 3.3 GDi '14
Hyundai Azera Lambda 3.3 GDi '14.jpg
The Hyundai Grandeur (Korean: 현대 그랜저) is a mid-size luxury car (initially full-size car) produced by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai since 1986. The Grandeur has evolved through five generations with intermediate restylings, and is marketed under various nameplates worldwide — prominently as the Hyundai Azera (현대 아제라). As the Azera, it was considered the flagship model of Hyundai's United States lineup until the arrival of the Genesis sedan. Currently the Azera slots between the midsize Sonata and the Genesis sedan.

The Azera HG was released by Hyundai as a 2012 model with an all new appearance and an engine which followed the "fluidic sculpture" design of modern Hyundai vehicles. This design is dubbed as the "Grand Glide" concept. The fifth generation Azera (unveiled at the 2011 Los Angeles International Auto Show) was developed over a period of three and half years with a cost of 450 million dollars.

The Azera is clearly a Hyundai with many design aspects tying it back to the brand. The slotted chrome grille flanked by jewel headlights give a warm, friendly appearance to the front fascia. A nice belt-line runs from the headlights through the door handle and back over the rear taillights. A second and higher “hip” line forms over the rear door handles and further accents the parallel belt-line running just below. Out back, the Azera concludes with clean lines and integrated chrome exhaust tips. Overall, the Azera is a clean-looking, modern sedan that – not considering its middle-child syndrome – just barely suffers from blandness. Otherwise, it’s an attractive package.

The Azera is powered by a 3.3-liter, direct injected V-6 producing 293 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic with Hyundai’s SHIFTRONIC manual control. Power delivery is smooth and uneventful – something to be lauded. The EPA rates the Azera’s fuel economy at 19 mpg city, 29 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined. Those aren’t stellar numbers, but considering the Azera’s place in the lineup, along with its 1500 Kg curb weight, it does all right.

The engine itself features some advanced technologies. The direct fuel injection system operates at 2,200 psi while variable valve timing operates four valves per cylinder. The Lambda engine has an all-aluminum construction, piston cooling jets, and roller timing chain.

Alfa Romeo SZ '89
Alfa Romeo SZ '89.jpg
The Alfa Romeo SZ. Nicknamed ‘Il Mostro’ – The Monster’ – it was the product of a collaboration between Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Centro Stile Zagato, although Zagoto’s eventual contribution to the project was more in the manufacturing and the iconic badge on the side of the car than the design.

Robert Opron of the Fiat design studio was responsible for the initial sketches while Antonio Castellana was largely responsible for the final styling details and interior. Only the 'Z' logo of Zagato was kept. The car possessed unusual headlights positioned in a trio on each side - a styling used more subtly on later Alfa Romeos in the 2000s.

Alfa’s competition department were let loose on the engine and handling; the underpinnings of racing Group A/IMSA Alfa 75s were used as a basis for the suspension geometry, and the 75’s 3-litre, light-alloy high-angle V6 modified with new intake and exhaust manifold, a wider air filter and better cooling. Power from the V6 was 207 hp, the 0-100 km/h time was around seven seconds and the top speed over 245 km/h.

Lotus Exige S Roadster '12
Lotus Exige S Roadster '12.jpg
The Lotus Exige/ɛɡˈziːʒ/ is a two-door, two-seat sports car made by Lotus Cars since 2000. It is essentially a coupé version of the Lotus Elise. A few weeks before the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, Lotus announced they would "blow the top off " at the show. Lotus has decided to bring out their fastest roadster ever to date: the Exige S Roadster.

Based off the Series 3 Exige S, the exterior of the Lotus Exige S Roadster is almost identical to the coupe model there’s a new front splitter that eliminates the broken lines found on the previous model and newly designed headlamps. The coupe’s rear spoiler has also been dropped.

The Lotus Exige S Roadster is powered by the same engine found in the coupe model: a supercharged 3.5-liter V-6 engine with race-derived technologies that delivers a total of 345 horsepower. The engine is mated to a stanard six-speed manual gearbox, but is also be available with Lotus' Serial Precision Shift (SPS), a paddle-operated automated manual transmission which makes driving a more relaxed experience in the city and more F1-like when it’s let off its leash.

The sports car also comes with two different suspension settings: a standard suspension for an active driving experience suited for public roads and an optional setting as part of the Race Pack for maximum performance, developed for track use. The launch control system can be activated when the car is in Race mode.

BMW H2R '04
BMW H2R '04.jpg
The BMW H2R ("Hydrogen Record Car") is one of the first of a new breed of racecars adapted to run on liquid hydrogen fuel. Conceived and developed in the relatively short time of 10 months under the direction of Dr. Raymond Freymann, it has set nine international speed records at the Miramas Proving Grounds in France.

The specifications of the H2R include a six-litre 12 cylinder power unit developing an output of more than 285 hp. Based on the gasoline power unit featured in the BMW 760i, BMW's hydrogen combustion engine boasts technologies such as BMW's fully variable Valvetronic valve drive. The H2R benefits from the results gained in series development of BMW's future hydrogen engine for the world's first premium saloon built for dual-mode operation, BMW launched a dual-mode version of the 7 Series, thus introducing the first car of its kind able to run on both hydrogen and gasoline.

The main modifications to the engine involve the fuel injection system adapted by BMW to the special features and requirements of hydrogen. Contrary to the production engine with fuel injected directly into the combustion chambers themselves, the injection valves in the hydrogen engine are integrated in the intake manifolds. For the specific speed record requirements to be fulfilled in this case, the hydrogen combustion engine was designed and built for single-mode operation running exclusively on hydrogen.

On the high-speed track at Miramas the BMW H2R set nine international and FIA-ratified records with hydrogen combustion engines.

Bugatti 16C Galibier '09
Bugatti 16C Galibier '09.jpg
The Bugatti 16C Galibier is a luxury 5-door fastback concept car. Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. unveiled the 16C Galibier at an invitation-only show held at the Molsheim, France assembly salon on September 12, 2009. The 16C Galibier was to use a front-mounted, 8.0 L twin-supercharged W16 engine delivering power via permanent all-wheel drive.

The 16C Galibier name is a reference to the Bugatti Type 57 Galibier. Bugatti traditionally gave Type 57 variants names that referred to mountain passes. Galibier refers to France's Col du Galibier. The "16C" refers to the engine's 16 cylinders.

The Galibier’s design is based on the Bugatti Type 35, a model that also inspired the 1001 HP Bugatti Veyron super car. The 16C concept features the traditional Bugatti radiator complimented by big round LED lit headlamps and the clamshell running the length of the vehicle which became synonymous with the brand identity under Jean Bugatti in the Type 57.

Under the bonnet, the 16 C concept can stand up to the Veyron, becasue Bugatti has placed a 8.0 Liter 16 cylinder engine boosted with a two stage supercharging system, that features an ethanol mode. Performance figures have not been specified, but it has a power output in excess of 1,000 hp while surpassing speeds of 378 km/h.

Sbarro SV1 '73
Sbarro SV1 '73.jpg
In March 1973, Franco Sbarro exposed for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show. The stand was small, but it opened a series of uninterrupted participations in the Geneva Motor Show. The Coupe SV-1, for Safety Vehicle One, is shown at the Geneva Motor Show 1973, along with the Tiger. This was a car made to meet safety standards at the time.

The chassis is connected to a tube with double side roll cage submerged in a two-piece polyester filled with polyurethane foam. The SV1 is equipped with two sprinklers that are triggered by impact or very high heat in the engine compartment and cockpit.

Two engines were planned: a rotary engine with dual piston from the NSU Ro80 150 DIN hp at 5500 rpm or a blend of two birotors NSU developing 300 hp DIN at 5500 rpm. Only one car was built, however, powered with the latter. The SV-1 is so far the only Sbarro model powered by a rotary engine.

The car, financed by Stanislas Klossowsky who also worked on the Stash, has not found a buyer at the time. At the Geneva Motor Show 1973, the car was white. It was painted the following year in orange and set out again on the stand Sbarro in 1974, alongside the Stash.
