Maserati 450S '56
Maserati 450S '56.jpg
The Maserati 450S is a racing car made by Maserati of Italy, and used in FIA's endurance World Sportscar Championship racing. A total of nine were made.

Up to 1956, Maserati solely focussed on small-engined sportscar racing with engine sizes ranging from 1.5 litre in the 150S to the 3 litre in 300S. These were all fine racers but they were never in contention to take the overall lead against the much more powerful Ferraris, Astons and especially Jaguars. So Maserati set out to build an engine and chassis that was capable of beating the 'big-boys'.

The Maserati designers worked simultaniously on two different engines, a new 3.5 litre six cylinder and a 4.5 litre V8. A new chassis was designed to house both engines. The first engine was the six cylinder and it was taken out in a new, stronger chassis for the 1956 Mille Miglia. The 'six' proved underpowered for the heavy chassis and the combination was even outpaced by 3 litre 300S. By the fall of 1956, the V8 was ready and it was taken out at the practice of the Swedish Grand Prix.

Throughout the fall and winter of 1956, the V8 car was further developed and the engine output was raised from the initial 365 hp to 400 hp. With this immense figure, the quad cam, V8 engined 450S was the most powerful front engine sportscar. It was only surpassed by the Panoz prototypes in the late 1990s. The brakes were also revised to be able to cope with the enormous speeds expected from the 450S.

The 450S made its first appearance at the 1957 Argentinian 1000 km race where it was driven by the Grand Prix drivers Juan Manuel Fangio and Stirling Moss. In the early stages of the race there was no one who could keep up with the storming 450S. The all new and complicated engine was remarkably reliable, although it failed to finish. The drivers were let down by a failing clutch, which after some clutchless gearshifts, caused the transmission to seize. At Sebring in March of that same year the 450S was in top form. This time there was no mechinical failure stopping the Modena based team from scoring their first victory. With the 450S in the hands of Fangio and Jean Behra victory was had.

Tushek TS600 '14
Tushek TS600 '14.jpg
Tushek&Spigel Supercars GmbH is an Austrian manufacturer of supercars, based in Graz, in the former militarily airport, which consist of a private race track for testing. The company was founded by Aljosha Tushek and Jacob Carl Spigel. Supercar startup Tushek, founded by Slovenian racing driver Aljoša Tushek, first hit the scene back in 2012 when it unveiled the Renovatio T500 at Top Marques Monaco. Since then, Tushek has gained new investors and relocated its operations from Slovenia to Austria. The company has also rebranded itself Tushek & Spigel.

The TS600 was revealed at the 2014 Top Marques Monaco. Essentially, the TS600 is an updated version of the T500, albeit one that comes with a lot of new components to justify its status as its own model. For one, the car’s chassis was built using a combination of carbon and titanium, two materials that are normally associated with high-priced exotics. At least Tushek understood what it needed to use to be taken seriously.

Tushek TS 600 from Tushek & Spigel sports a V-8, one cranking out 680 horsepower, and since the car weighs only 1150 kilos it has a stunning power-to- weight ratio of 1.69Kg/hp. The car is able to reach 351 Km/h and to conquests a 0-100 Km/h time of only 2.9sec and the flat torque curve provides over 500 Nm of torque from 2900 rpm to 8200 rpm. TS600 generates 1.8G of lateral acceleration thanks to a very low centre of gravity helps from a longitudinal engine and gearbox layout, wishbones suspension with inboard damping and very low un-sprung weight.

RUF CTR "Yellow Bird" '87
RUF CTR Yellow Bird '87.jpg
RUF Automobile GmbH is a German automobile manufacturer. RUFs are built up from bare, unmarked Porsche bodies and chassis, as opposed to conversions or strip downs of existing Porsche models. When a chassis arrives, RUF builds their own independent work into the car. Because RUF installs many of their own-made parts, the company is recognized as a manufacturer by the German government. Additionally, RUF cars are given their own VINs and other registration numbers. Thus RUF cars are considered production models.

Possibly the most famous creation from the team at RUF Automobiles was this bright-colored Porsche 930-based machine, nicknamed the Yellowbird. Twin turbochargers and intercoolers are attached to the 3366-cc overhead-cam flat-6, along with a Bosch Motronic fuel injection system specially created by Porsche. This resulted in an output of 469 HP at 5950 rpm and peak torque of 407.9 ft-lb at 5100 rpm. And thanks to the new aluminum body panels for the doors, fenders, and trunks, this RUF weighed in at only 1150 kg, accounting for a staggering power-to-weight ratio of only 0.40 HP/kg.

In 1987, RUF machine blew away the competition in a magazine-hosted top-speed competition, as the Yellowbird trounced its much-heralded competitors from the likes of AMG, Ferrari, and Lamborghini, topping out at a blistering 340 km/h.

But this particular RUF CTR could handle the curves as well as it could launch itself at a high speed in a straight line. Although the suspension geometry remained unchanged from that of the stock Porsche, many bits were composed from higher-grade materials. Other improvements included new Bilstein shocks, better brakes, and ventilated discs all around. New 170inch tires/wheels, 215/45VR-17s up front with 255/40VR-17s at the rear, rounded out what was then (and perhaps even now) the greatest RUF ever built.

RUF CTR was available with both small and wide body for customers who wanted that. But the record holding original was indeed the small body one, because it has less drag.
The test was done by Road and Track magazine and made RUF famous. Not only was it exceeding the factory claimed top speed, it did blew away a lot of the establishment as well.

The CTR2 has different bodywork btw, with a rear wing that looks more like the one from the Porsche 959.

CTR3 is in The Crew.

BTW, while the model of the CTR Yellowbird is well done in GT, the CTR2 is mediocre and badly modeled. Maybe because very few will pick that one to drive, as the CTR is a legend and the CTR2 is not.

Matra 530 Vignale Coupe '68
Matra 530 Vignale Coupe '68.jpg
Mécanique Aviation Traction or Matra (Mécanique Aviation TRAction) was a French company covering a wide range of activities mainly related to automobiles, bicycles, aeronautics and weaponry. Matra was owned by the Floirat family. The name Matra became famous in the 1960s when it went into car production by buying Automobiles René Bonnet.

The Matra M530 is a sports car created and built by the French engineering group Matra. In 1968 Vignale presented the 530 Vignale Coupe, designed by Virginio Vairo, and based on the platform of a Matra M530. The car made its first appearance in Geneva painted yellow. Later the car was shown at the Vignale stand in Turin with some minor body modifications and painted red and white. It is not exactly known whether this car was a two-times repainted one-off or that Vignale had built more than one.

The Matra 530 Vignale Coupe is a car that has a 2 door coupé body style with a mid located engine delivering power to the rear wheels. The 1.7 litre engine is a naturally aspirated, overhead valve, 4 cylinder unit that has an output of 70 hp of power at 4800 rpm, and maximum torque of 127 N·m (94 lb·ft/13 kgm) at 2500 rpm. The engine delivers its power through to the wheels by means of a 4 speed manual gearbox.
