Those are the cars I most like, I'd rather have a game with only "unknown" manufacturers like Jiotto, Marussia and Sbarro than one with Porsches, Ferraris and Nissans. Image

Triumph TR3 '61
Image

The Triumph TR3 is a sports car produced between 1955 and 1962 by Standard-Triumph in England. Although the car was usually supplied as an open two-seater, an occasional rear seat and bolt-on steel hard top were available as extras.

The car was powered by a 1991 cc straight-4 OHV engine initially producing 95 hp (71 kW; 96 PS), an increase of 5 hp over the TR2 thanks to the larger SU-H6 carburettors fitted. This was later increased to 100 hp at 5000 rpm by the addition of a "high port" cylinder head and enlarged manifold. The four-speed manual gearbox could be supplemented by an overdrive unit on the top three ratios, electrically operated and controlled by a switch on the dash. In 1956 the front brakes were changed from drums to discs, the TR3 thus becoming the first series production car to be so fitted.

The suspension was by double A-arms, manganese bronze trunnion, coil springs and tube shocks at the front, optional anti-roll bar, and with worm and peg steering. Unlike MGs of the same period, the steering mechanism and linkage had considerable play and friction, which increased with wear.

The rear was conventional leaf springs, with solid axle and lever arm dampers, except that the (box) frame rails were slung under the axle. The wheels were 15-inches in diameter and 4.5 inches wide (increased from 4 inches after the first few TR2s), with 48-spoke wire wheels optional. Wire wheels were usually painted, either body colour or Argent (silver), but matt chrome and bright chrome were also available. The front disc or drum brakes and rear drums had no servo assistance.

The TR3's weight was significantly more than the Morgan Plus Four and the 356 Porsches, but not much more than the MGA and MGB. All except the Morgan, which shared the same engine, were substantially less powerful.

Under most conditions the car was very responsive and forgiving, but it had a some handling vices. The chassis, which was shared by the TR2, TR3, TR3A and TR4 had limited wheel travel. As a result, on very hard cornering, the inside rear wheel would lift, causing sudden oversteer due to the increased load on the outside rear tyre. This was particularly true with increasingly common radial tyres; the original TR2/3/3A suspension was built with older, crossply tyre designs in mind. The wheel lifting was more sudden than that of other cars, because it was caused by coming to the end of the suspension travel while there was still load on the tyre, so the load on the other (outside) rear wheel was a discontinuous function of cornering load, rather than just changing slope.

The TR3 is a true roadster, designed for sunny weather but with removable rain protection. It has a convertible hood (US top) that snaps on and off and removable side curtains, allowing very low doors with padding for the driver's arm to rest on. There are holes in the floor, with rubber plugs, so that the originally supplied jack might be used from inside the car, as did the Jaguar XK120.
The optional heater was poor and the shut-off valve was under the bonnet. A third person could get behind the seats, if absolutely necessary.

Engine: 2138 cc straight-4
Transmission: 4-speed overdrive manual

Scorpion Motorsports P6 '11
Image

With a front end that looks like a Formula One car and a rear end that’s made up of a center wheel, the P6 defies any conventional logic as to how a three-wheeled racer can look this oddly amusing while also boasting of some impressive performance specs.

To serve as the housing for the P6, the creators of this three-wheeled speed demon used a GRP composite body with an optional full carbon fiber body to go with a carbon fiber wing. The suspension comes with adjustable shocks on the front and rear while hypercoil springs and an adjustable anti-roll bar are also part of the configuration. Meanwhile, the interior features leather and suede upholstery, an AiM Mychron 3 dash/data logger, Tilton pedals, and a sequential shifter with an optional electronic paddle shifter thrown in for those interested in the add-on.

In terms of performance, the P6 is powered by a 600 cc engine that produces 126 horsepower, a 0-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds, and a 0-100-0 mph time of just 10 seconds. For a little three-wheeled car that looks like a butchered Ferrari F1 racer, that’s posting some pretty serious numbers.

0-100 km/h time = 3.5 secs.
Top Speed = Unknown, 200+ km/h

It's actually a gorgeous car. Image Too bad its performance numbers are crap. :handgestures-thumbdown:

But it's still a good car for the list, mainly because I don't think of cars to race, I think about cars to cruise around the map. :shifty:

Spartan V '10
v.jpg
The Spartan-V is an ultra-light track car which originates from Australia.

The Spartan-V project is one which has it's roots back in the early 1980s, when two brothers built their first motorcycle-engine powered buggy. Fast forward nearly 30 years and the Spartan-V is where you get to. A featherweight sports car with supercar humbling acceleration, a simple yet gorgeous body, and a drivetrain lifted from one of today's most advanced superbikes.

The Spartan-V is based around a tubular steel spaceframe chassis which is both light and strong. Into that the engine and transmission from a Ducati 1198S is slotted. That means 170 horsepower is on tap from a 1.2 litre engine, and all the power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed sequential transmission. Thanks to the Spartan-V's incredibly low weight of just 300kg the car can rocket to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds. Top speed is 280 km/h.

The Spartan-V track car features numerous other high-spec components; like a digital dash, Wilwood ventilated and scalloped brake discs, Wilwood 4-piston billet calipers, Tilton racing pedals with brake bias, Woodward Racing quick ratio steering rack, fully adjustable suspension, Drexler Motorsport limited slip differential, and FIA approved Sparco race seats with 5 or 6 point harnesses.

At the moment the Spartan-V is in the final stages of development. The shape of the bodywork has been finalised, and the company are just waiting to get the production moulds back so they can start work on the series production cars. They only plan on making 300 examples - in honor of the Greek warriors after which the car is named.
