BMW M8 Prototype '90
BMW M8 Prototype.jpg
Originally envisioned as a Ferrari competitor equipped with a special 550 hp version of the BMW M70 engine, essentially a bored out version of the M70 with experimental multi-valve cylinder heads. A common misconception is that this engine powered the McLaren F1. However, when this was suggested to McLaren's designer Gordon Murray, the idea was rejected because the engine was too heavy and long for the McLaren F1. Rather, variations on the original S70 used on the 850csi, the S70/2 and S70/3 were used for the McLaren F1 (The variation used on the M8 prototype was the S70/1 engine). The project was eventually scrapped because BMW decided that there was no market for an M8. The only prototype ever produced (one that was reportedly not even road safe) was locked away by BMW in the company's ''Giftschrank'' (poison storage).

Seat Cupster Concept '14
Image

The concept, developed to celebrate the Ibiza’s 30th anniversary, is pretty innovative in its own right, which is a testament to what Seat is capable of if it puts its all into building cars that are out of its wheelhouse. The Cupster Concept is based on the Ibiza Cupra , which really doesn’t say much because most of the details in the concept roadster are things we’ve never seen Seat do in the past. The lowered stance gives it racing appeal and the absence of a traditional front windscreen puts the car in a concept level all its own.

There is also no shortage of performance – the CUPSTER is based on the Ibiza CUPRA. And that means a powerful 177 hp from the 1.4 TSI engine, super-fast gear changes thanks to the DSG transmission and precision sports running gear with 18-inch wheels.

Lotec Sirius '09
Lotec Sirius '09.jpg
Lotec is a Germansports car manufacturer. The company was founded in 1962 by Kurt Lotterschmid. By 1969, the firm began building race cars, and would turn their attention to modifications for Porsches in 1975. In 1983, they began to create aftermarket aerodynamic and performance parts for Mercedes-Benz cars.

Lotec have produced one of the most powerful road cars of all time. Now with over 1000 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque from the Mercedes sourced twin-turbo V12 (same as used in the SL65 AMG), Lotec claims a Bugatti matching 400 km/h, 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and 0-200 km/h in a shattering 7.8 seconds.

Manufactured from the lightest and most modern materials applied in the aerospace and automobile industries, carbon fiber composites combined with tubular steel. The bodywork is produced from the optimum combination of carbon, Kevlar and glass fiber materials.

The Lotec Sirius was introduced in 2001 as a Concept car and went into production in 2004 until present. Only 5 cars will be built per year with a price of 468.000 euro.
A lot of money but matches the Veyron for less than half the price (and is prettier).

Aston Martin DBS '67
Image

The DBS was intended as the successor to the Aston Martin DB6, although the two ran concurrently for three years. Powered by a straight-six engine, it was produced from 1967 until 1972, eventually being phased out in favour of the Aston Martin Vantage.

It was a larger coupé than the DB6, with four full sized seats, but was powered by the same 4.0 L engine as the previous car. Claimed engine output was 282 hp, but a no-cost vantage spec engine option substituted Italian made Weber carburettors for the DBS' original SU units, thereby upping output to an advertised 325 hp.

The DBS was intended to have a more "modern" look than the previous series of Aston models (the DB4 through DB6), and it incorporated a fastback style rear end and squared off front grille, atypical of Astons at the time, but very much then in vogue in automotive design circles of the late sixties. Trademark Aston design features, such as a bonnet scoop, knock off wire wheels, and side air vents with stainless steel brightwork were however retained. The DBS was the last Aston Martin to be built under David Brown's control.

Honda Mean Mower
Image

After six months of spannering in their skunkworks garden shed at Honda's British Touring Car Championship partner, Team Dynamics, the team has emerged to do a track run that has claimed a speed record for World's Fastest Lawnmower, hitting an average of 116.57mph (187km/h).

That trumps the previous record by nearly 50km/h. And to qualify, it still had to be able to cut grass -- although possibly not on the Guinness World Record endorsed speed runs.

The Mean Mower is based on a Honda HF2620 Lawn Tractor, but has been given a completely rebuilt chassis and a 1000cc engine from a Honda VTR Firestorm motorbike with an output of 110 hp. It also benefits from a customised six-speed automatic transmission with F1-style paddle-shifters, a Morris Minor steering rack, Scorpion exhaust system and a Cobra sports seat to replace the normal ride-on pew.

“The original brief for Mean Mower was to create the world’s fastest lawnmower – and now it officially is, by some distance! We are all delighted to hold a Guinness World Records title and we’d like to thank everyone who was involved in what has been a challenging yet incredibly exciting project,” Honda UK said in a statement.
