That looks impressive. Nice performance boost. But you can select the temp threshold yourself, can't you?

Lol, immediately pushing it over 2.000Mhz

What again was the stock factory speed?

PS Run Extreme and Time Spy as well. After all, extreme is more representative for your rig as it is a 1440p test.

Stock speed was 1923,5 mhz and 2003,4 mhz memory, only 14861 and 18854 graphic score versus 15930 and 20344 graphic score so overclocking it was well worth it.

LOL why wouldn't i overclock it right away ??

Here are the rest of the benchmarks, i had to drop my OC by 5 mhz for TimeSpy as it crashed in it 3 times.

Firestrike perf. - 16111
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/14128758?

Firestrike Extreme - 8695
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/14128841?

Firestrike Ultra - 4689
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/14128874?

TimeSpy - 6016
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/14129467?

Even though i got a potato of an chip it still puts up nice numbers just a shame it doesn't clock higher, not sure i can justify a waterblock for this card as it would not make much difference unless they figure out how to unlock the voltage in the BIOS.

- - -

I don't know if i'll keep that GPU for a long time due to this resson, just look how much i'm losing by having a crap chip 500 points on TimeSpy is huge, so i'm second guess my purchase as i was about to order the 1070 G1 Gaming when the seller asked if he should come by with the GPU, and i fell for that, kind regret that now seen how far others can push their chips.

That's no potato, as it clocks up to 2.063. A lot of the Pascal chips dont even go over 2.000 Mhz, including binned ones.

It is only guaranteed to do the factory boost clocks. And this coolblock is pretty well performing. The throttling at 60 degrees is weird. That should be at 80. So maybe there are some settings you can fiddle around with. But so far it looks pretty good.
Over 16K in Firestrike is a monsterscore already.

For these benches you can also let the Fanspeed be at 100% for the whole test.

It is not thermal throttling, i had the fans on its lowest mode and run Valley for 15 min and it got to 85*c and still same behavior, so i think it is voltage throttling it self which is super strange as the card has a 10 phase power delivery and 2x damn 8-pin power connectors.

It is the BIOS limit limiting the voltage, happens in PrecisonXOC and Firestrike beta, so just my cards BIOS acting strange.

BTW chip might be able to go further once i get it unlocked, before it gets unlocked i won't get a waterblock for it, as i could just sell it for a VEGA or Volta card easier down the road.

I'll try with 100 fan speed, and let the card cool down between benchmarks as it lowers the clock.

You might have set the voltage too high. That is totally not needed

use the power 120%

Maybe, i could try it out with +70% voltage increase.

I'm trying the Afterburner function were it dissables the dynamic voltage profil for a linear profile which is more stable, my card is running a 2050 at 63*c something it could not do before, so something is helping it with Forcedvoltage on.

But i really can't go over 2060 mhz or it crashes.

Just to underline the essence of a good cooling profile.

http://www.3dmark.com/compare/spy/28462 ... spy/284750

All tests reach 2.000Mhz, but the one with the 65% fan profile keeps the high clocks, while the other (50%) drops the ball. It even goes all the way back to 1.600Mhz.
Third result is with a custom fan profile. The high clocks keep even longer. But the fan also revs up to 80% and above 70% it is clearly noticable. In this case the whole test stayed above 1.900Mhz, which is awesome. Temp peaked at 81 degrees in that test. In these tests all other variables were the same. Mild OC on GPU and Mem.

The cool part is that i can use this profile for gaming. And it is not too far off the max result from OC at near 8K.
