Sim Racing Pedals

If you want to take your rig to the next level, pedals are a great way to start.

For the real feel, especially for braking, you need load cell technology for maximum peformance. Good brakes can easily shave of a few tenths of your lap times.

While most regulare brands, like Logitech, Thrustmaster or Fanatec already have some great pedal options, there are specialist who make even better ones.

Heusinkveld is one of them. I have no experience driving with these, so i let the pictures and decriptions do the talking. But with load cell technology on all pedals, you can not go wrong. And even if they are expensive at 700+ €, they look like quality stuff to me

A combo deal with the pedals, handbrake and sequential shifter will set you back around 1.300€. All pro grade stuff.
More accessible pedals with less force needed and a similar build quality will set you back 1.000€.

That handbrake looks awesome btw. :2thumbsup:

Another cool brand to check out is Derek Speare Designs. He made my button box for the Fanatec wheel hub for me and it turned the looks of my rig into a real cockpit.

They also have serious button boxes as well as very good pedals.

And just look at this hydrolic handbrake

Pedals with 100kg load cell tech brakes will set you back 895$
Handbrake a whopping 595$.

Probably the most expensive handbrake for sim racing you can get, lol

Compared to the previous manufacturers, Fanatec might be more common. But do not underestimate their V3 pedals.
The brake has 90kg load cell tech and all movement of throttle and clutch is monitored by magnets. HAL technology, also used in high end wheels.

I do have extensive especience with both the Fanatec V2 and V3 pedal sets and also been involved with some beta testing for the Eladur brake upgrade kit. These V3 pedals can also be equipped with dampers for even more realistic feel. I currently run them without. The dampers can be mounted on both brake and throttle. But make most sense on the brakes IMO.

The V3 is an improved version of the V2. Similar in looks and design. But the V2 had 40kg load cells, that i already had to replace twice, lol  The polished metal of the V2 still beats the V3 design IMO. And it had built in oil dampers. No need for extra parts.
Right now i use the V2 on my playseat challenger. Really overkill. But it works well enough for now.

Prices start at 360€ and the dampers are 80€ a piece. The Eladur kit is 30€ and you can color match your pedals with different colored metal parts for 45€.

The whole kit is well designed and easy to maintain and replace parts. All metal, so very rigid and sturdy.

And you can get a mount to create hanging brake and clutch, like in a real car

ProtoSimTech takes the professional-high end enthusiast approach. They look very rigid and sturdy.

They have 50kg load cell tech and are made from full metal. Pt1 and their current Pt2.

At a price starting from 400$ for a three pedal kit, they are positioned slightly above Fanatec. And a whopping 100$+ for shipping.
But this is a very small company. I guess they will only start a new batch, once orders are filled. But if you have the patience, these look awesome and well worth the money.

DiySIM makes awesome looking pedals as well.

Rather steeply priced at 1.300$
But than again, these are focused on professional users. And they have 120kg load cell tech.

It appears that the high end load cell is what makes these pro grade pedals so expensive, compared to lower pressure versions. As some race cars do not have brake assist, you will need 100kg pressure or even more sometimes on the brakes. This is the main difference from SIM racing and the real world. Having pedals in your home rig that are capable of actually these realistic type of pressure, can really make a difference in realism. But they will not neccessarily make you any faster in a SIM race. Adding more realism can make you slower in some cases. So finding a good balance between realism and playability is key for the perfect home setup.

Ricmotech is another well known SIM racing pedal maker.

These look awesome and professional.

Their real gear pedals are the one of the most expensive sets you can find at 1.600$
