Yes the bikes a probably best on controller as that is the targeted crowd of game developers, but i don't mind it, btw. i used to hate the handling model for the cars, as i never seemed to find a setup that would work for all cars and the default on the XB 360 controller is much better than i remembered it to be.

But to add to the graphical changes then night time driving is insane as you can hardly see a thing, i think they might have over done it, as the game is much less playable at night night in game as it is so dark. But i like those graphics updates alot it makes the game come alive, but we'll need buffed headlights that's for sure

But i'm abit undecided on whether or not i should buy this "patch" as lost interest in the original game fairly quickly, it didn't have the same addictive feeling as TDU2 had on me, it took a really long time to get over that game, but we'll see might buy it just to get the Ruf RT-35 i've waited for a long time.

My overall thoughts:

yeah its been a fun beta I have always loved drifting used to do it in real world but in the crew it is still hard not to spin out in HC mode, drifting was always a big attraction for me, as said by others the throttle needs fixing with no real ability to control torque band of the car in slide it feels more like steering control than anything else.
But I am finding classic clutch kick works very well to get it to slide before corner entrance, but the E-brake is still not what i would like when i pull it i feel its not really behaving as it should seems to kill cars RPM plus can't really ride the E-brake into the corner like in say real drifting, but big issue i feel high scores will be hard for HC users it really favors FA people sadly.

The bikes are a blast good high speed fun sad we only got to try one but i guess it's something to look forwards to I tried to use wheel with the bike made me feel very weird but lucky enough for me I have Gamepad setup so when I change to the bike I just pick up the gamepad and ride when change back to the car I just grab the wheel no need to change any settings in the game.
The grip is crazy strong even in HC mode but love dropping the clutch doing big straight line burnouts sounds are pretty decent as well really hope we can paint the bikes on release.

The Drag racing im sort of mixed on the feeling I got from it I currently own a Street/Drag car in real life again familiar area for me, The burnout I can see they want to keep it simple but you should have to drive forwards as you do it, The launch is very hard to get right with no gauges present as it counts down so your take off is a guess, The gear changes have me puzzled found it hard to get them any where near correct I still can't really work it out there system as changing on green did not result in perfect change.
The speed feels highly exaggerated in regards to top speed, sad this mode is only limited to the Extreme class would love to use P sec and S spec in drag racing mode that would be blast, I wish we had button to activate the parachutes at the end of the run but its good mode just feel it lacking thought at time of design.

Monster trucks are a good bit of fun they handle pretty nice but not really my thing just find them an inconvenience when kids are driving them trolling the skill missions.

The dynamic weather is a great addition but still has nothing on TDU system I would really like to see thunderstorms and heavier down pours even snow but i know that's a bit extreme I also feel the weather changes way to quickly and to often sometimes the ground will suddenly appear to be damp when it has not rained im assuming thats a bug.

The summit is fun i like it give's the feeling of some of car festivals i have been to be great if they could expand on the idea and had more summit locations etc, sad they did not expand crew size's and user created races sort of not what i expected.

The graphics overhaul is pretty good but hard to judge at 30 FPS only complaint i have is sometimes the game appears to bright in full sun shine
2015-10-18_00002.jpg
Final thoughts I am happy with the expansion but not over joyed i feel once again they have come up short and misunderstood what the community really wanted and really needed it's like they have tried to give the people what they wanted but they have not understood what people wanted and not to be rude but they do not have the vision to create what people wanted.
There are up and down sides like drivers arms appeared to be more stable for me which was great weather looks nice and new modes are welcome edition but its things like mirrors and bigger crews and custom user events etc I would like to see the other specs have the ability to use the extreme modes I think what we see is what we will get I don't believe this will be the golden ticket they are hoping for and i feel they will not develop this game much more than what we see as i believe its not financially viable for Ubisoft to continue to develop this game.
I think if Ubisoft continue to use this title in there franchise path they are better to start of with blank canvas and listen and incorporate the community idea's.

I couldn't figure out how to drift for the life of me, I'm using a wheel. I enter the drift/slide but then its very hard to control the drift, I just spin out no matter what I do. Guess I'll have to tweak the settings, play around a bit with the sliders. If someday I figure it out, then drifting is my new activity.

1) Bikes - I didn't bother with the bikes at all, cuz wheel.

2) Monster Trucks - They are fun to play around with however it's not something I'd be doing in the long run. Same with Dirt/Raid spec, offroads are not my cup of tea.

3) Drift - If I ever figure out how to drift with the wheel I would definitely enjoy it. :auto-swerve:

4) Drag Racing - Tried once, meh. Didn't hold my interest.

5) Overall Graphics - Cars look much nicer than the previous version, especially at night, brake lights are brighter and much more detailed. As for the environment I'd have to play more to get a full picture, overall I think its an improvement however some parts look nicer than some other parts of the environment. I'v seen some people say that the night is way too dark. If you drive in the rural areas, it should be darker than in the cities. Although I do agree that the headlights could be brighter. I also find the Day/Nigh Cycle too short. Rain is a nice addition but those puddles have some of the ugliest textures I'v seen.

6) Car Handling/Physics - More or less the same as before, however it does feel a lot smoother and there is a sense of speed when you drive fast.

I could go on nitpicking but what this game needs is a better Custom stickers/paint editor, Photo Mode, Customizable HUD, Custom Radio and Auction House. :twocents-02cents:

Brighter headlights are most defenitely high on my request list.

The rainy and pitchblack dark drift track is probably to test what we think of it. Hard to see where to go, even when you more or less know the track.
But a bigger contrast boost realism. They need to find a way between creating a realistic environment and good gameplay.
On smaller screens it will become hard to play the way it is now.

I will do some more testing today. Tune some cars to see if the drift handling can be set to my liking. And tweak the throttle to be more direct if possible.

PS UbiSoft should be more clear about pricing and different versions. Right now in the US there is only a version in pre-order available that incorporates both the base The Crew game and the Wild Run expansion.
They definitely need to be more transparent about that. Right now it causes confusion, as some think they will have to buy the whole game again.

not sure but i notice other players can see more details same for me like smoke skid marks etc this shot taken by friend of me drifting latency is still biggest killer seems to really affect cars response to inputs

The new updated physics and handling are very noticeable. I tried the Street Spec Subaru BRZ this morning and did some free driving with it. Best way to learn a car quickly and also to test the handling and basic physics changes that have been made.
Car reacts more real and less Arcade. This is a good thing in Street spec. I like it. I could very easy push the car and enjoy the enhanced scenery at the same time. The differences in road grip are also well done and not too exaggerated, like they are in Drift Spec.
Traffic shows a lot more small cars now. Probably Ford KA, Fiat 500 or similar. :D

Video is uploading now.

I also noticed that the slalom skills are now dominated by Bikes. Even with a circuit spec car i could not get close. And i'm not an average driver.
If the bikes are left like this, they will ruin the game experience for a lot of players. Same mistakes that have been made with TDU2. Too bad really.

I tried the (only?) drift track in the dark and rain again but kept spinning out as soon as i wanted to extend my drifts. Maybe something to get used to. But i think the way the drifting works needs an overhaul. Not intuitive and way too hard to control. I'm not enjoying myself in drift mode.
The steering angle needs to be more extreme. Real drift cars can get almost 90 degrees steering angle.
Also took the drift Camaro for a short road trip. In the dry it is much better. Effects on a wet track are exaggerated, i suppose.
Maybe the devs added that dark wet drift track on purpose to show the most difficult setting you can get. They succeeded in that for sure.
Not adding some sunny dry drift track to compare is a big mistake IMO. Especially for a Beta that wants to draw a crowd. At least 3 different drift tracks in different conditions should be part of this Beta.
I also was not able to buy a drift kit for my Subaru, due to the ridiculous 400K kit price. So for now i can not compare the Scooby to the Camaro. Need to find a way to earn 100K fast, lol. :?

Conclusion for now:
  • New graphics and effects are awesome.
  • Rear lights and brake lights are much better now.
  • Player head lights needs to be stronger, have a larger range and/or reflections have to be improved.
  • Sound has improved a lot.
  • Improved physics add to the refinement of the game and handling in Street spec
  • New game modes are fun but won't be the core gameplay for me.
  • Drift mode needs some tweaks. The spinning out is no fun and unrealistic. This is like balancing on a needle.
  • FFB is also not very good in drift mode. Bumps are exaggerated.
  • Bikes are overpowered, especially in corners.
My shifting lights still wont work. Have to look into that. The Fanatec wheel has a drift setting that reduces the wheel resistance when turning quickly. I will try that later.

I've asked about this and the official answer is:
At the launch of The Crew Wild Run there will be 3 edition: The Crew Wild Run, The Crew + The Crew Wild Run and The Crew + The Crew Wild Run + The Season Pass.
BTW, The Crew Wild Run alone will be available digitally only.
Also if you already own The Crew complete edition you will automatically own The Wild Run when it's available.

Hope this helps. ;)

Here a Vid of my early morning drive in The Wild Run. it gives a nice impression of some of the visual upgrades of The Crew and also how smooth the transition from Night to Day is now.
The BRZ was fun to drive in Street Spec. I enjoyed the ride.

The beta was alright, nothing special, but my question is is it too late? Everyone I know has pretty much given up on The Crew, as have many others. Nobody plays it anymore, and will the update help?

Only the new Wild Run version of the game is available in shops.
Marketing division is making crucial mistakes IMO. Prize range should be known by now.

A project like this was always meant for the long run. Not like most games you complete in a weekend or a couple of weeks. To keep it interesting and the audience hooked, you need fresh content on a regular basis. And you need a strong base to work with.
Most important features that were missing in the launch version of The Crew are bigger "cells", larger Crews and a place to gather and show off your paint skills. There is no mention of a custom paint shop. Maybe the photo editor will make its way.
And it still does not have the addictive factor TDU2 had. Easy to hook up with friends should be on top of their priority list. You can have a lot of fun with small Crews. But 16 player events should be possible. if not start with 12 player events and 8 player Crews for free drive. For a starter. And the text messaging should give you a sign that someone is trying to reach you. The darker colors of the text box are hard to read etc.

There is plenty to look forward to. This expansion adds a lot of fun and certainly allows for hours more gameplay. Wild Run has a lot of positives that will boost the cool factor in The Crew.

The disadvantage of adding a feature like the "Summit", is that it is another stand alone thing in The Crew, where you have to enter first. Races and event starting straight from the map are still not there. Faction runs excluded. All PVP races should be accessible during driving, without entering a lobby first. There are many options to filter the map view, but the PVP races are not there...

Instant challenge editor sounds like fun. I will use that a lot i think. But a Lisa's or CRC is still missing. Would be cheated anyway, but still. Maybe the devs think only they can create fun races.
Right now you are forced to pick a class for example, while in the trailers you had Dirt vs Street etc. Choosing tactically what vehicle to use for next race would be awesome. Like the Circuit Spec vs Raid in Yellowstone.

There is no real cohesion between the different things you can do in the Crew. PVE, PVP, Factions, storyline and now The Summit. What is missing is the binding factor.
A dynamic model where your position in a Faction is constantly challenged for example. Based on overall results. With Faction specialists in each erea. And where team results really count and not only end up smashing a few crates at the end of the month as a bonus. Factions should incorporate groups. Groups battling for the leading position within a Faction and real Faction against faction races for territory and some in-game depth. That was what i was expecting when i heard about Factions first.
All game modes are like little Islands in the ocean called USA.

Right now it still feels like being a single player in an MMO World
