Well, as is no surprise to anyone, F1 2017 will be releasing this year. But what I'm super excited about is that they are bringing classic content back!

As it says in the video, the game will release on August 25th.

As cool as this game looks, I'm wondering why they are even calling these all classics! Most of the classic car list is composed of cars from the 90s and early 2000s. As much as I love those cars, I wanted to see more from the 60s and 70s. But there are a bunch of games coming out with classics, and 90s F1 cars are severely underrepresented in games, so I shouldn't be complaining! :loll:

In F1 terms, last years cars are already classics. :D

But next to eye candy and good car models, Codies F1 is way too indirect to be more than an F1 based game. It is no Sim.
For the real F1's from 60's 70's and so on, grab pCars2 or iRacing

I recently made my F1 Codemasters collection complete during the Steam Summersale. And the old school F1 still appeal most to me. Wonder why that is.... ;)

Career mode expanded.

OK, this is what i think; They focus too much on peripheral things and not enough on the actual driving. It starts to become another manager game and targets engineering focused players, instead of drivers.
I prefer excellent handling and driving dynamics. The rest is just topping.
And from the looks of it, they focus too much on side dishes and presentation and leave the main course unattended.
I do hope i'm wrong about this.

I agree about having solid physics, but I also think that those peripheral activities are really important for the progression of these games. Without those new things to do, each F1 game would be an exact copy of the last but with new cars. In fact, that's exactly how the Codie's F1 games were from 2010 to 2012. So I think it's actually pretty cool that they are trying to make their games less shallow and add replay value. And anyway, I heard the physics were pretty greatly improved for F1 2016.

Funny thing is that it is the same IRL F1. The sport has become too much of an engineering game. And rule makers dictate the outcome of races more than once.
But AFAIK, the Codies F1 series are focused on F1 from a drivers perspective.
IRL you have managers, engineers and mechanics who take care of the rest.
Not to mention the role of Team Principals.

I do agree that all these extra activities will increase the appeal of the game and most likely sales as well.
Right now it looks like they are creating some kind of F1 "sims" experience, instead of F1 "sim", including being yelled at by Team Bosses.

I am looking forward to this one, especially with the new griplevels in mind.
Most important is what happens on the track, not in the paddock.

But maybe a real F1 "SIM" like game can be made? pCars2 will have Formula "A" again. License too expensive or just exclusive to codemasters i assume.

F1 2017 takes a more serious turn as F1 launches an E-sport competition, based on Codies F1 2017
