Every team has done some updates, but the one from RBR seems to work best. The qualifying gap to Polesitter Lewis Hamilton is just 0.5 seconds. So maybe they played a little hide and seek this weekend.
The absolute star of this qualifying session was Fernando Alonso. Placing the inferior Mclaren-Honda on P7 is just amazing. Well done.
The interview on the straight before the public in the Spanish Sun was also refreshing. Liberty Media does a good job involving the fans more in the Sport. Bringing Alonso to the Mic was a good move as well.

Congratz to Lewis for another Pole Position.

What a epic fight for first through the whole race, made for good watching, but Hamilton got lucky with the virtual safetycar pitstop while Ferrari missed out on it, abit of a shame.

Also the mid fleet had some very good fights going on. But abit heart breaking for Magnussen to go a puncture on the laps 2-3 laps losing out on the points.

When some of the top dogs drop out at the start of a race, other battles become more interesting. Too bad for Kimi, Max and later Bottas. I already wanted to turn off the TV. But i'm glad i did not. Vettel and Hamilton had an epic battle that made it worth watching. Add to that Alonso overtaking both Williams GP cars and an excellent result from Force India. With 3 of the top drivers gone, Ricciardo drove a lonely race to the podium.

Force India impressed with P4 and P5. And both Toro Rosso drivers in the points as well.

Some drivers should use their mirrors better ;)

This was today a 2 man show but also other drivers shone with good performance. :D
I mean, among others, the German Pascal Werlein.
He drove a strong race with the not so fast Sauber and finished in the end despite a 5 seconds penalty place 8

Mercedes will have a luxury problem with both their Junior program drivers performing well. Both Ocon and Wehrlein showed great performance in Spain. Wehrlein was able to fence of Sainz for a long time. Ocon even secured 5th.
I still think Mercedes was right not to let either one of them drive next to Lewis this year.
Bottas has only a 1 year contract. But he does do well and is more of a team player than Nico was. And with the Sochi win, he might land a contract extension for next year. Althoug todays performance was a bit clumsy, eliminating Raikkonen and Verstappen in the first corner. But Bottas has raw speed. It will be interesting to see how Mercedes will proceed. Both Junior drivers will have to show maturity very soon®

Like i said earlier, if a few of the top team drivers drop out, other players will shine. Spain became an interesting race for the midfield, now points were there for the take.

But i still think the difference between the leaders and the rest of the field is way too big. From place 3 onwards, everybody got lapped at least once by Lewis and Sebastian. Some were lapped twice. That is just too much in a 66 lap race.

With Sauber securing a point, they will get free transportation from the FOM. Always important to score some points at the start of each season ;)

Fernando Alonso keeps surprising at Indy.

During the first qualifying, he managed 7th place, which will put him in the fast 9.
That is the group where the pole will be dedicded.

Talking about quick adapting. Just amazing.

Lewis Hamilton was fastest in P1, followed by Vettel and Verstappen. His time was also the fastest ever in Monaco so far. Massive tires will do that for you :D

Big respect for Jenson Button. After a short initiation period, he was able to get to 1.5 sec from Lewis' time.
Matching Vandoorne's pace, who drives the new McLaren the whole season already.
Button did brush the fences on more than one occasion. Wider car...
