While Mercedes, Renault and Ferrari are questioning the proposed new engine rules, others embrace the proposed changes.
Mercedes is the dominant manufacturer and should not be heard at all in this debate. Of course they do not want to give up their lead in technology. It is in their best interest to keep everything as it is.

But for the sport in general and to reduce the costs, the so called HGU-H has to go. This has to be made clear to all involved and enforced if needed.

There are a few "new" manufacturers, like Cosworth and Ilmor, who do dig the new engine rules. It will give them at least a chance to enter the sport again as independent engine suppliers. Something that is badly needed.

Did Hamilton party too hard and lost focus? Seldom mistake shifting back too quickly and causing his Mercedes to spin into the tire wall. Mostly damaging his ego obviously.
Maybe he should focus more on F1 and less on former vintage super models :twocents-02cents:

Time for Bottas to step up, which he did. Only 38/1000 of a second separating him from Vettel. That will be a very interesting first corner tomorrow. With Kimi 3rd and Max 4th.

Will they be able to avoid collisions? I guess not. So a good start will be key, as overtaking is a bit harder on Interlagos.

Circuit Interlagos is situated between two lakes, but also next to the infamous Favellas in Sao Paulo. A team bus of Mercedes was robbed at gunpoint. Things like this have happened in the past. Even stuff has been robbed from pitboxes before. They beefed up security, but maybe everything and everybody should get a Police escort there from now on.
The irony is quite thick, as some of the richest people in the World are competing for the Formula 1 championship, next to some of the poorest. Money, or the lack of it, can make people do crazy things.

This was a very boring race. Well deserved victory for Vettel, after a controlled race. Kimi fenced off driver of the day Lewis, who almost made it to the podium after starting the race from the pitlane. Bottas is just not good enough IMO. Not for Mercedes anyway.

This race proved once more that the difference between the front runners and the rest of the field is way too big. It can not continue like this, that would be bad for the sport. Even Ferrari will have to admit that.

Brazil needs rain to be interesting it appears.

The squabble between Red Bull and Renault will most likely continue, after Renault detuned their engines to prevent faillure. This destroyed any chance for RBR to keep up with Ferrari and Mercedes this whole weekend.
Even with these conservative settings, Hartleys engine blew again (Toro Rosso).

Renault started to verbally attack Toro Rosso, by suggesting that it was probably due to their chassis that the engines failed. Just ridiculous. If they want to seek excuses like that, they fail big time. The race in Mexico engine fail was due to the MGU-H unit....
Toro Rosso thinks Renault gives them scrap engines so the works team can become 6th in the championship. Something fishy is going on there and Renault starting this debate is a works team unworthy.

A lot of damage control will have to be done in the upcoming weeks. Red Bull pays 42 Million $ a year for the engines for both teams. For that amount you might expect Renault to deliver. Period. This lame attempt to seek the cause of the engine fails externally is immature and very silly indeed.
Makes me wonder what Renault Boss Carlos Ghosn thinks of that....

Good to see Bernie is still involved as a promotor of various events in F1.
They also make an interesting point. Should F1 follow the automotive world going full electric in a few decades, or should they revert to 2.4L V8 (hybrid) to focus purely on entertainment.

Legendary Team Boss and Manager Flavio Briatore has slammed Ferrari for not signing Max Verstappen
I would sign Verstappen with my eyes closed

Flavio Briatore says Ferrari should have nabbed Red Bull driver Max Verstappen

Briatore believes Ferrari have made a mistake in not getting Verstappen on-board in Raikkonen’s place.

"I don't know what (Sergio) Marchionne will do, he is unpredictable," Briatore explained to Italian broadcaster Rai.

"But with Raikkonen you will never win the constructors' title.

Flavio Briatore says Ferrari should have snapped up Red Bull driver Max Verstappen

"To win you need two good drivers, and Ferrari does not have that.

"I would sign Verstappen with my eyes closed.

“He is the only real driver that people want to see - a gladiator that they do everything to penalise in every race.”
Flavio has an eye for things like this. But they will get another chance in 2020, if Mercedes does not natch him first.

Toro Rosso has announced that Pierre Gasly and Brendon Hartley will be their drivers duo for 2018. No real surprises there and good for them. Lets hope the Honda will be better next year.
