Suddenlink is all full of surprises. sometime last summer they got rid of the old 8 mb service and upgraded to a 15 mb service (for the same $29.99/mo). I have been enjoying 1.5-1.7 mb/sec download speeds from Steam.
this morning I decided to download the Grid 2 demo. it downloaded at 3.8 mb/sec.
I think Suddenlink has been upgrading again.

it cost 120$ for f--king 4mbps and 100GB of data.. I think steam goes at 250-400kbps
3.8 Megabyte's a second on a 15mb service is impossible unless someone upgraded it to the 40mb service

they had a 30 meg service for $39.99. now it looks like 40 is the basic, probably have a 50 meg for $40.ill have to find out what the max is
p.s. they also made me get one of their modems that has its own built in wifi connection, so I was able to trash my old wireless router. it was slower than this wifi modem anyway.
funny thing about all this is the cost of basic cable. ive had my cable for 12 years now, started with a 512k service back in 2001. got a wopping 64 kb/sec (as opposed to 3 kb/sec for dialup). it cost $29.99/mo and basic cost $24/mo. now my internet still cost $29.99/mo, but my basic is now $69.99/mo.
one of these days we will stop watching tv and turn it off. it costs twice as much as the internet.

Australia was a tad ahead with cable in 2001 they only had 10mbps down and 512 up but only had 10000 people using it at the time, but i would be happy with 512k for the time be alot better then dial-upKaru62 wrote:they had a 30 meg service for $39.99. now it looks like 40 is the basic, probably have a 50 meg for $40.ill have to find out what the max is
