personally, aside from some weekend poker i don't bother with tdu2 anymore. would rather jump into ETS2 and haul a load from Aberdeen to Verona than go back to Oahu again
thats not even a paint/skin mod on that truck, though there are tons of those out there. as well as physics mods and so much more.

Atari did stick it to themselves in a major way.
http://www.atari.com/sites/default/file ... UK-DEF.pdf
Their mobile strategy failed badly and they now expect major losses for 2012/2013. Their main shareholder/creditor cut off the money supply and again tried unsuccessfully to sell its stake in the company. Management tried to find investors but their effort didn't pan out either. Bluebay gave management a 3-month reprieve from debt service so the company is now scramblong for cash for not just day-to-day operations, but multi-million dollar debt repayment as well.
Who knows, they might pull a rabbit out of their hat. I read in another thread on this board that the forum merger is now being worked on again. If the forums are back online this week it could mean two things: Atari found the money they desperately needed and are resuming normal operations. Or, they decided they can't get by with revenue from mobile platforms alone and are getting back to milking their existing property, digital or otherwise. The latter option could mean new content and renewed support for TDU2. Highly unlikely though, so be prepared for a permanent server shutdown in the next few months.

Fact is (from that pdf) with no word a statement about revenues from tdu or so so ... I could be wrong, but it seems tdu2 is dead and we'll never see patches and new content. I think that the next thing is some server announcement and about the merge of the forums ... well I have to see if it comes back ... maybe, maybe not IF it comes back I have 1 or 2 things to tell them in a not so polite way.
IF IN DOUBT .... FLAT OUT

TDU 2 is probably dead regardless of Atari's situation. Even is Atari lives past the March 31st deadline, they will still focus on IP with greater revenue potential - D&D, RCT and Atari Casino. Still, if Atari shuts down after the March 31st deadling then there doesn't remain even a slim chance for the game to survive... obviously.
with regards to the RCT IP, they blew that big time. even if they tried to bring RCT4 to the market, their is already the cheesy game by Frontier, "Coaster Crazy" that is on the IOS platform and a new simulator being developed called Theme Park Studio with what appears to be much improved game play and interface...so far. http://www.youtube.com/user/ThemeParkStudio
not saying the RCT community would ignore a new RCT game, just that they have fallen WAY behind on that.

They never took TDU2 as serious as they should. Probably advised (by Nolan?) to Port old Arcade games to other platforms they neglected support for other games. Releasing new content on a regular base is a relatively easy way to generate some revenues. A carpack (min 12 cars) for 1000 tokens will probably be bought by a lot of players. Maybe even 250.000, generating a nice 2.5M. They could also make DLC available through steam in packs. Maybe i think too simple but you do not need to be a Nobel Prize winner to understand this simple marketing approach.NascarVike wrote:Atari did stick it to themselves in a major way.

According to some rumors Atari has paid for the servers until end of 2013. Still need somebody to hit the reset switch on occasion.
