Dakar Desert Rally
That truck in the first post was from legendary Truck Driver Jan de Rooy. He was at one moment the race leader, set some fastest times and ended 8th overall with a truck, sometimes doing speeds exceeding 210kph. 
Good memories.
The sand physics have always been avoided because it is hard to get right. Desert sand can behave like water or be rock solid.
