Don't you think you should jump the Broadwell train, as it will no doubt be more powerful than Skylake

Some leaked benches from a Chinese site show the Skylake 6700K performing just a bit better than the 4790K. In some cases at the same level or just below its predecessor.
But the new platform will have a lot of the good stuff from the 2011, making it a worthy upgrade. Driver optimizations and better support in software will make the performance exceed the leeked benchmarks for sure.

Interesting scores, but not enough to make me upset i just bought a 4790K

Performance is 10-20% better, depending on the benchmark. This was an engineering sample. So the final product with proper drivers might be better.

And all tests were done at stock speeds. So there might be some headroom for overclocking as well.

It is not far from launch now. We will know soon® how it really performs.

There have been some overclocking results on Air, showing speeds up to 5.2Ghz. And with 1.3V. That is very promising indeed.

It looks like skylake has it all. Next summer will be upgrade time for me, i think. Skylake and next gen Nvidia...
