A "new" player on the consoles market that will use linux based SteamOS for games.
Don't know about the controller, but this project can become huge.

I want to try it first before i can give an opinion. But it looks kinda weird. Definitely something to get used to.
They will probably make it compatible with other controllers, wheels etc, so i don't think that will hold it back.
If the Steam Box will be capable of taking on the big 2 has to be seen. But it looks very promising. Games on Steam will be more affordable for sure.
The new SteamOS is also definitely worth a try. I will build a dedicated PC for it, have some spare parts laying around. Just to see what happens.
Gaming without windows interfering.....

The "official" Steam Box will be equipped with a Core i7 and GTX780.
That is some serious horsepower, even more than the PS4 and XboxOne.
It seems that Steam will take on the big ones. I like that attitude. And with their experience in game distribution and support they might have a winner here.

They made a few prototypes before ending up with that design. I really want to try them first before i can give a verdict.
You can probably hook up other controllers as well.

IFixit has torn down the Steam Box

Looks like a lot of power in a small box. Much more powerful than the PS4 and XboxOne.
With a lot of games becoming available through SteamOS this might be interesting.
