Could the next testdrive game be free to play?

In one of the job descriptions at kylotonn they state "free to play games" as one of the things you should have experience in when applying for the job.

Now this could be something or nothing but it still seems strange to include it in the description.

To succeed in this mission, you need :
Substantial experience :
Either in game design on massively multiplayer or free to play games
Or in consumer goods' management / online commerce
An understanding of game balance and economy, statistics, virtual goods, and players' motivations
An understanding of interface designs and navigation, being able to collaborate to create intuitive interfaces
An understanding of players' experience with economy in their daily lives : knowledge of e-business' systems, pricing and merchandising strategies
Having solid analytics capabilities, with a practical experience in Web analysis systems and trial methods.

They also say this:

It is obvious how they could do this and still make money off the game by selling in-game cars and upgrades etc.....

It would be a big twist for the franchise but this is a new company with new ideas so wile i think it is unlikely i wouldn't rule it out.

I believe it was over 1.300$ in total.

The greed seed has definitely been planted within the game developer companies, or the publishers.

Right now you can buy a "discounted" special version of a Shelby 500 in The Crew 2 for 100K CC, equals 10-15$. For a single car.

TDU1 had the most epic Carpack ever for just 15 or 20$, containing 40-50 new cars, prototypes and bikes.

TDU3 should become a new benchmark for the driving game industry. Greed is not what we need.
If they are generous with 8-12 car DLC for 10$ on a regular base, everybody will buy it.

They can also release a annual season pas, that will grant access to 4 of those quarterly packs.
By doing that, they can tap into the loyal player base TDU has. Focusing on making a few quick bucks is not TDU like.

Excuses like we need that to pay the dev team are BS. If they sell enough copies of the base game, many will consider buying new season passes, as long as they deliver the content, including a new location each season and many cool new game features. In addition they can consider brand packs for the connoisseurs.

The slippery slope some developers have taken will turn against them eventually.

There are better and more substantial ways to keep the dollars rolling. And not just in the TDU Casino

Nothing about FTP during this interview. Maybe for the best, as they will evaluate all of their options.

The best course of action IMO is a release version, season pass and an annual additional season pass in the years after that, to keep the money flowing and the game going.

Your probably right and i dont think it will ever happen but it would be to early yet to announce that sort of thing anyway.
