Good start for Max, thanked his start engineer (yes, you have those) afterwards. Hamilton stayed in the slipstream for a few laps but had to cave eventually, dropping out of DRS and ended 9.4 sec behind the leader.
More interesting were the battles behind the leaders. With Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren and an unleashed Albon in the Mix, all driving similar pace. That makes the driver input more important and some adventurous overtaking took place. COTA has always been a good racing track with both technical and slipstream overtake possibilities and this little sprint race was a gem. Very little contact or real incidents. A nice appetizer for Sunday's main event.

That was a very good race with real battles for position and different pit stop strategies.

Max won, despite braking issues and a fast charging Hamilton. The new Mercedes package seems to work for him nicely.
Lando 3rd, a bit dissapointed as it looked like he had a chance of winning his first race today. His time will come for sure.
The fans rewarded him driver of the day.

Another green table disaster after the race. But this time it involves cars that failed to pass the technical inspection.
The bottom plates (skid blocks) have to fulfill a certain thickness (9mm) after the race. Due to the bouncy track and aditional sprintrace some of the cars showed too much wear and tear. This will most certainly spark a conversation. Not all cars were tested.

Where the RBR of Max Verstappen and the McLaren of Lando Norris passed the test, both LeClerc and Hamilton were DQ.

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have been disqualified from Formula 1’s 2023 United States Grand Prix after their car planks were ruled to be excessively worn down.

Especially Hamilton will not be amused. This was his best race of the season.

On the other side; Logan Sargeant scores his first GP point for Williams GP, as both of their cars are now in the points

Sensational 1-2 for Ferrari in Mexico City
LeClec grabbed pole, closely followed by his team mate Sainz. Verstappen 3rd and all 3 drivers within 1/10 of a second.

Positive surprise from Ricciardo, who seems to like Mexican.

Ferrari must have found some Jalapeno for the engine settings, but some clever slipstreaming helped them as well.
Honda's previous high altitude engine advantage seems to have faded a bit, as others might have replicated their successful application of aerospace technology to deal with performance loss.

Sunday's race will be a thriller with a long run towards the first corner.

Crazy race in Mexico with some freak accidents but no harm to drivers, except to their ego's.
What a fiesta every time F1 lands in Mexico City.

Max 16th victory, another all time F1 record. What a season RBR has so far.
Hamilton did a great job, maximizing on 2nd and fastest lap of the race. Checo's kamikaze dive in the first corner can become costly at the end of this season.
LeClerc on 3rd. Ferrari showed some pace in qualifying but are not there yet in race trim.

Driver of the day was Lando Norris with some epic overtakes.



Positive result for Honey-badger Ricciardo, back from his injury and a nice 7th place for him.
His team mate Tsunoda destroyed his own chances and needs to keep his head cool. Must be the height...
Albon another points finish for Williams GP. And last point for Ocon in the Alpine.

Wow, just watched the highlights. Perez got way too ambitious But other than that, saying this in a good way, seemed like a chaotic race on a dirty & gritty race track.

Not sure if I missed it but what happened to Magnussen's rear left tire before the crash?

It seemed to broke off, causing the car to turn sharp to the left, with a massive impact as a result. He escaped relatively unharmed. But that should not happen in the modern age of F1 racing.

What a crazy weather in Brazil

During Q3 it almost became night black and it poored rain so hard the rest of the session was canceled.

All drivers lucky enough to set a time at the start of the session were at the front.

As this is a sprint race weekend, there will be another shootout tomorrow.
