I thought Track IR was good (I didn't continue with the one I got because it was broken ) but looking at this video of D rive Club with VR has definitely convinced me that this is the way to go with racing games in the future.
As the guy in the video says you can feel the road more and judge the corners better it also feels more natural to normal driving and you get a better sense of speed.
So what do you guys think, will it be the way to go for games like this ?
VR and the future of racing sims

Unless they will have "retina" 4k/5K ultrawide per eye in at least 60fps, it will make you dizzy. 30 min with a head set can already make people disoriented.
Input lag will be key. You can see in that video that there was massive lag in reaction time, at least with the screen behind the driver.
Interesting development anyway.

And I hate playin' video games in first-person view (includin' racing sims, hood and chase camera FTW), so automatically I hate VR. That's it.

Well I've got to disagree, this Tec is still in it's early days I think once it gets smaller, lighter and the software improves this will be one of thee ways to play games in the future especially games like this.
I will almost certainly be getting a VR setup at some point the only question is which one.

You're right of course. This will be a big part of future gaming in general.
Maybe one of the good parts about it, is that players will come from their lazy @ss and move around, instead of sitting still on a couch
But there are a lot of options right now.
One of the products that looks well thought out is the HTC Vive
And with Steam as a partner it might be good. Over here priced at just under 1.000€.
The controllers look weird though. Maybe you will need a full motion suit for the full experience
Other products like Oculus Rift can be hooked up directly to your PC already and replace the traditional monitor setup.

But with people like Zuckerberg behind it, you might think twice before they start probing your brain with secret built in sensors

Yes I remember when the Nintendo Wii came out people laughed and said it was a stupid idea and would never catch on, I thing this is another one of those things.
At the moment everyone is a little sceptical and not sure if it will take off but for the most part the reviews have been good and people seem to be amazed with the results once they try it so like I say give it time and I think it will become the norm in gaming, at least until the next big thing comes along.

Yes I quite like the HTC Vive but I think I will wait till one of them sticks it's head above the rest before I fork out that sort of money.MadManCK wrote:

This definitely seems to be the next logical step for this type of thing, at the moment it is a little bulky and does look heavy but this could change as it develops.
I like the idea of being able to see your hands in game so will definitely keep an eye on the project.

Just a VR Headset wont do it. You need a dedicated room or this chair

PS I don't see the point for racing games, but for (Space) Flight Sims it can be awesome
Just imagine a HOTAS mounted on that thing

We can probably expect a lot more of this kind of thing coming out in the near future as VR gets more main stream.
At the moment it is all very pricey and out of the reach of most peoples pockets but this will change in time (I hope )
Stuff like this is still way off our price range and always will be.
