This looks like goodbye forever to TDU2 as Atari, In the US have filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy. And the casino title they were working on probably won't be coming. My guess is TD:FL was the last release for them.

Its a sad day, but well done to them for being big players for 40 years and giving us hundreds of hours of entertainment!

EDIT : Found some info ... here ->> http://www.joystiq.com/2013/01/21/atari ... ng-assets/

Don't know. From what I gather, Atari in the US are trying to move away from pc and console games to avoid going totally out of business, its like taking a step sideways when the shit falls. I would imagine they'd support the servers for a while, but I'd see it the end of anything else...

Well in that case it's not terrible news, they've been shitting on us for 2 years, they deserve it. Maybe some competent company will buy them out and maybe things for TDU2 will better.

I agree.

They promised much more DLC, MUCH more support, fired eden devs and left most of the community in the dark. The forum merger "failed" (id say it was planned to fail because they were failing anyway), they didnt care about the consoles and PC in the end, they messed up the servers lots (worst time was on our club birthday).

The only good thing i can say is that tdu2 has given me at least a year of good memories. I have met great people and had a lot of laughs.

Oh you... *Blush*

But if Atari already payed for the servers for this year I guess there's nothing to worry about for now. Even if they weren't bankrupt they'd probably shut them down at that point anyway.

After a major backer dropped their support this is probably unavoidable. Bad news. Especially for the few good people who were at least trying to give some support.
They had it coming. Shooting themselves in the foot as a core business trademark is not very long lasting, neither is sticking your head in the sand.

TDU has given me and many others a lot of joy and entertainment, despite the crappy support and unfinished state of the game.

Maybe an enthusiastic, capable and supporting development team can take over the TDU franchise. It still has tons of potential and a loyal client base. I would start straight with the development of TDU3 and maybe release some DLC for TDU2 and an end patch for both TDU2 and TDU1, including connectivity options, to keep the coin rolling.
It still baffles me that the most simple marketing approach of releasing new stuff for existing games has not been fully exploited. Like they wanted to go out of business on purpose. Something is not right for sure.

Lets see if the servers stay up until end this year as they were rumored to have been paid for. Still need somebody to hit the reset switch once in a while.

Now, where can i spend those damn tokens on :loll:

Well it doesn't surprise me as for the servers well if they are paid good, but who's going to reset them in case of malfunction (which is a common thing). I'm afraid that it won't be reset if half the servers are down so the question is how long is it playable?
IF IN DOUBT .... FLAT OUT
