To be one 30/3 you would have to be connected to FTTN (Fibre to the node) where a fibre cable from the exchange goes to a node on the street then uses your copper cable to your house and it would slow down the futher away you are from the node, so your paying for speed you might not be able to get. but it also sounds like a X.25 connection https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X.25

Yes, the last part is always copper and i can only get 28 max over here. Did some tests.snake250 wrote: To be one 30/3 you would have to be connected to FTTN (Fibre to the node) where a fibre cable from the exchange goes to a node on the street then uses your copper cable to your house and it would slow down the futher away you are from the node, so your paying for speed you might not be able to get. but it also sounds like a X.25 connection https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X.25
But the technology used is VDSL* instead of ADSL i have now. That can do up to 50/5 over copper in theory. But as they can not deliver that speed, i opted for the 30/3 solution.
TBH, every speed increase is more than welcome. Maybe next year Fibre becomes available finally. Problem over here is that at least 30% of the households have to state they want it, before the Fibre squad starts digging.

This is the type of fibre I have, it's only fibre to the box at the end of my street and then copper to my house.
Luckily the box is only about 200 meters away so it shouldn't have much impact on the speed.

We just ditched cable and went to 25/13 fiber on Thursday.

I had 30/3 and 1ms ping. So it was not that bad at all.
Since the neighborhood central has been renewed and gets its feed directly from fibre, only the last 50m or so is copper. Central is around the corner.
Before the upgrade this speed was not available.
